Changing my return date with Thai Air

Hi folks, I am looking at booking a flight from London to Bangkok at very short notice in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

I prefer to travel direct so Thai or Eva are my options. I have found a Thai Air flight through Ebookers for £627 with the same flight directly from Thai Air website at £650.

I may extend my stay for a week whilst there so I need to be able to change the return if needed.

Ebookers they say it will be £100 to do this after departure, but I do not understand the fare rules on the Thai Air site (I have cut & pasted the 'Q' fare rules, see below)

refunds:unused tkt - fare paid less gbp75.

:partly used - ow fare n cnl fee gbp75 to

be deducted from fare paid.

changes:for 1st trvl date - permitted at gbp75

if the new trvl date result as;

lower fare :no refund will be given

higher fare :diff.fare + fee gbp75

up-sell :diff.fare + fee gbp75

the tkt must be reissue

:for onward date - foc within tkt validity.

rerouting : ticket is non reroutable.***

 

As I see it if i wanted (which I dont) to change the 1st travel date (outbound) it is £75 + possibility of difference in fare, and if I change the onward date (return) it is Free of charge as long as it is within the validity of the ticket which is 1 month.

Would any of you guys care to comment if I am reading/understanding this correctly, cos I'd rather pay the additional £23 in fare to start with and then use the free of charge option if necessary.

I can assure you there will be a "difference in fare," which THAI calls "fuel surcharge". It's very high, so you need to get that straight before you start comparing.

I read it as you...free to change return date within the month.

 

Since the price of fuel is falling, I think Thai might just leave the fuel surcharges where they are.

The change of date for the return is FOC providing the new date is within the original ticket's validity AND there are seats available in the same or cheaper booking class (H,I, K, M, W, V or whatever).
