My avatar is a .gif file and when I open the file on my laptop the girl swings up and down on the tree with her boobies flopping about and jiggling all over the place. Very nice! :banghead

But when I attach the file as my avatar all I get is a still photo as if the file was just a .jpg file.

So does anyone know how I can get my avatar working.

Other BM's have got active avatars based on .gif files or .bmp files so I know that they work.

Can you offer any advice or help?

Put it on a website, and reference the html address - not on your own disk. That will normally work.

Thanks Joe for that.

However, the unfortunate things is that I haven't got my own website to put the .gif on?.

Maybe not at the very moment you read this message you don't, but within 10 minutes you could have one at Yola.com or sites.google.com or officelive.com. For example. Officelive is a terrific deal, you can have a real website (your own name, not "something.officelive.com) and thus your own email server (cousin at cousinpatts.com, say) for free for a year before you have to pay. But Yola and Google are excellent and very quick websites and you never pay. I'd say Google is better because Google won't go broke like, er, Yahoo just did with GeoCities.

It's really, really easy but if you can't do it, get the office or neighbourhood geek to give you a hand and show you the ropes. These days a website is a decent idea, you can backup stuff just for starters.

What I can see it's not a gif file, it's a png file! rolleyes

It is being changed from a .GIF, probably because some geek somewhere saw that Compuserve patented Gifs, and everybody should change.

I'll bet quite a lot it's an animated .gif on the OP's machine exactly like he says.
