Normally, I don't like staying at hotels between Beach Road and Second Road, but due to a knee injury, it was a better choice. I went ahead and tried Hotel Vista on Soi 4. It's a newer hotel with no joiner fees and I was able to get a decent rate on Agoda ($37/night). The rooms have a modern and understated style, which some people will like and some won't. The location is great for people that are new to Pattaya. The rate included breakfast for two (which I never woke up early enough to try) and free WiFi. The wireless worked great from my laptop in the room, but I was unable to get strong enough signal for my Blackberry and iPhone.

The restaurant is nice, but overpriced. They do have a two-for-one drink special between 4PM and 7PM. The pool was very nice -- it's bigger than it looks and uses salt water instead of chlorine. Some people might not care, but I really enjoy salt water pools.

When I'm all healed up, I'll likely be going back to my preferred hotels in the Soi Buakhao area. My comments and photos will hopefully help out people considering Hotel Vista. Here are some pics and additional comments.

The bed is large, though hard. I love the soft beds at the various LK hotels and the Sheraton.

The TV is a nice Samsung LCD HDTV. Unfortunately, the channels are SD. As some of you know, SD signals going to HDTVs result in crappy images.

The in-room safe is pretty low to the ground. This was a bit annoying with my knee problem.

You get two bottles of water, two coffee sets, and two tea sets every day.

The shower is unusual but cool. There's a small drying area, a really large tub (big enough for two, easily, and possibly up to four), and a waterfall-style shower. The tub is potentially dangerous if you're drunk. You'll see why in a second.

The tub is about a foot and a half drop from the drying area. I can easily see a drunk person taking a spill jumping into the shower.

The rooms are non-smoking, but you can smoke outside on the terrace. It's a good size with a decent sitting area.

The restaurant looks nice, but is overpriced. It's a nice place to catch a drink during happy hour. Part of the restaurant actually juts out to the pool and you can have drinks while you swim. This also means that people surely pee in the pool if they're drinking in it.

If you have any questions about the hotel, I'll try to answer them.

Great review, really enjoy the pics of the room.

Do you know if any of the rooms have a ocean views? How is the noise from the streets? from your neighbor?

The western most rooms might have ocean views, but the hotel is closer to Second Road than it is Beach Road.

Street noise isn't an issue. It's a pretty quiet soi and the hotel is next to Pattaya International Hospital (not a lot of noise coming out of it). As for neighbor noise, it seemed fine, but the hotel didn't seem too busy, so I can't say for sure.

Thanks for the review, looks good, is it guest friendly ???

Yes, it is guest friendly.

One thing I forgot to mention is that a lot of Filipinos work at the hotel. I found this unusual. The level of English at the front desk was higher than most places.

I fully understand what your saying, i tried 3 different sites and only one showed that joiners,

but with those compulsory meals that kicks it out, i am not paying nearly 100 pounds for a meal

which i don't want and don't enjoy, i had that at the LK Metropole 2 years ago and they played bingo

during the meal, seconds later i walked out.

I have the Sandy spring booked and i will stick with that :D

Cheers for your efforts in posting, appreciated.

Thanks for the review and the excellent photos. I see the bed is one of those with a big wooden platform which protrudes beyond the mattress and has sharp corners. Those things are a recipe for cracking your shins when you get up for a pee at night. There's no way I'd invite personal injury by staying in a room with a bed like that.
