Had a meeting with a guy yesterday regarding the new "Thai Rewards" discount card which is available very soon.

I was a bit dubious at first as I've ready been fucked around by the Bangkok Privilege card but after sitting down with this Guy yesterday I reckon this one will be a good thing, thay are also backed by the TAT and they already have ads running on TV and Radio.

So far they have 14 Golf Courses on board (they guarantee better discounts than the Pattaya Sports club) and they also have restaurants like The Sportsman, Manhattans & Captains Corner amongst others, bar wise they are quite new so they are looking for businesses that are willing to sign up with them (for free including a discount card for the owner) but I have already signed up Blues Factory with them, they also have discounts available for bike hire, accommodation etc etc. .

Card wise they will be available to all for 1500bht per year or they have weekly and monthly cards. Great for holidaymakers or expats and ok for business and bar owners as it "might" attract a few more punters and of course its free to join up.

Website is link.

Check it out.

(ps I'm not involved in this business in anyway. just think its a good thing for expats etc)

Well, they had better invest some money in a decent website first. That which they have is shockingly poor o speed and some of the graphics are amateurish.

Low number of outlets seems to hamper this type of venture every few years when someone else brings it back to life. No good if only 1 or 2 venues or outlets on your list and no decent and honest discounts available to make you use it elsewhere.

Mathematically, if places you went to gave you 10% discount, then you'd have to spend Bt15,000 there to break even and I don't see many tourists doing it for that reason. Golf will be where it wins but you have to look at the total cost and not just headline green fees. Buggy, caddy, date and time restrictions etc. will need to be checked.

Do golf courses really need more discounted business than can be provided by the current discount channels, such as the PSC ? and won't the PSC come back with matching fees ?

I guess the real incentive will be selling the card for businesses where they can advertise it as giving an immediate and ongoing discount in their outlet. It would be interesting to know what the commission structure is.
