Maybe because I was raised in Australia but fire and vermin ( termites) worry me a lot with wooden homes. But it certainly looks beautiful.
Some of the hardwoods here won't be touched by termites, and teak is known to be well resistant, but you are right, once they get in, everything can be eaten away requiring a wood rip-out.

My TGF would love this but regular wood treatment would scare me off.

A labour of love....

This one has been around for a while.....

Hi all,

what you are saying is correct but we had taken some precaution during constrution of both buildings (main and guest).

For example a net of PVC pipes had been installed under foudations and concrete plate for make easy and quick the treatment.

We used red bricks and Sheera (cement fiber) for enclose all at the ground floor.

On wooden construction all walls are made by double layer for allow a simply and safe treatment stating by top.

So I would like to say the treatment is necessary almost every two years but easy and cheap 'cause the buiding is already predisposed.
