BKK-LAX China Airlines Question

Recommended Posts

Found a good deal on China Airlines for BKK to LAX, one-way Business Class for 43,000 baht total. Does anyone have any experience with this airlines? Want to try and be sure 43,000 is not spent on shit if I could have spent 60,000 baht and had a better experience. I know the service won't be on the level with Emirates but just checking around.

It is business class for $1300

How bad could it be? That is less than EVA elite class at $1800.

My question is - how do I find bad deals like that?

I am aware that it is a Business Class ticket for approximately $1300.

The question was not if this WAS Business Class. The questions was, "does anyone have any experience with China Airlines?"

I am also aware of what the prices other airlines are charging at the this moment. I couldn't quote them all off the top of my head but they are in the 55k-122k range for one-way flights to LAX.

Not sure what you are doing with your time for starters so hard for me to tell how to get a 'bad deal'. Not sure when I said, 'bad deal', in fact my post starts with, "Found a good deal on China Airlines for BKK to LAX".

Back to the original question now.

Aloha,

This post will probably not have the information you are looking for and/or not maybe necessarily asking, but I do have experience with China Airlines. However, it is by flying roundtrip "economy" from honolulu to BKK and back. For my tastes, which are not extravagant, I have no complaints at all about what I received. I think I paid 750 USD in Oct/Nov 2009 for roundtrip from HNL to BKK...and back. Am planning to use them again on my return trip this year. I wish you luck with you answer search and hope you find what you are looking for.

bad deal was sarcasm. it is an incredibly good deal and China Air cannot be so horrible as to pass it by - that was my point. The best deal I could find so far was 3K usd on Philippines Air and and 3800 dollars on EVA.

I am always interested in finding sites that have better opportunities. It would please me if you would answer my question.

My advice is to jump on this deal. China Air cannot possibly be so bad in business class that it is not worth 1300 dollars. I would like to see if they offer anything when I plan to go next.

Please educate me on where I can find deals like this.

Here is a site I found: http://www.airbrokers.com/html/india_asia_...CFQMsawodmQ_tcw

Are sites like this of any value?

Now, where did you find this offer?

Midlife are your deals for RT or OW as the OP pposted his deal for a OW ticket via China airlines

Eva Air will do a OW ticket BKK-LAX leaving March 9th for around $1600US or 53,300 baht all in.....

Now Eva is running specials for BKK-LAX/SFO/NYC -Round Trip. Business class is 73,800 baht while Elite class is 33,800 baht. but must be booked by FEb 28th. Which just means March 1st they will have their new specials out.

I have flown China Air once via economy from SFO-BKK IT SUCKED FUCKING BIG TIME. I will never, never, fly them again... I don't care how cheap they are.

On my return trip home from BKK-Hong Kong I got bumped up to business class and wasn't all that impressed by it. The seats were old and just looked run down. Now this was awhile ago so maybe they have overhauled their planes. I equate them with SouthWest airlines they will get you were you need to go but thats about it....In fact SouthWest is probably better then China Airlines.

In my opinion forgo the business class on China Air and go Eva Elite class. Save yourself a bit of money and probably just as good an experience. I am 6'5" and find I have lots of leg room via elite class on EVA. I find them to be a great airline and most people enjoy flying with them.. You also have a seperate check in at BKK airport for Elite class so ticketing is a bit easier. You can also try asking to PAY to use their business class lounge. Did that my last flight and it worked..Now in SFO it didn't :allright . Cost per person for the lounge was about $20 bucks US...

I have also flown Business class/Laurel class on EVA and have found it to be good. The only gripe are the seats as they don't fully recline to a flat position and you feel as if you are constantly sliding down. I like the fact they ou can preorder your food online and order items not on the main flight menu. Nothing better then getting lobster while the other folks are stuck with beef or chicken.. :D Great service and good entertainment equipment..

If you want to see peoples reviews of airlines and their classes check out the following link

Airline Reviews

Just compare China vs Eva.... :D

And yes I am bored right now with nothing better to do... :D :beer

I've flown China Airlines many times RT from Honolulu to Bkk and no complaints. It's decent, the schedule is great, price is right and the flight attendants are not bad. Sounds like a good deal from LA for business class. I think they have two flights from LA. The one that leaves around midnight would be my choice, but is usually booked first. Have a good trip, whatever you decide.

Thanks for the responses indeed.

I found the deal with China Airlines while researching the OW ticket to America from BKK. I went directly to their website and it is posted there. Good luck.

I flew the EVA Business Class in October/November RT to LAX from BKK and was not really impressed. It was not bad by any means but as stated, the seats made me feel like I was sliding down all the time.

I've checked just about all airlines and the China Airlines is the best deal so far. EVa being next then Thai Air. NWA/Delta was around 100k baht as was AA.

I agree on the seats on EVA both negative in business class and positive in elite class

Even so, bc was nice as an upgrade and with service and all was ok for me. I liked it. I always fly EVA because it is the best on getting me to Pattaya when I want to get there from San Francisco. I am considering flying business again at $3800 in december vs $1800 for Elite class. That is why I am asking how you all find the best deals.

Now that I have used almost all my air miles on my January upgrade, I could switch to another airline if I can find one that gets me to Bangkok midday to mid-afternoon.

Yes.....

I have used them Biz Class on the Amsterdam-Bangkok route quite a few times.

Punctual.

Good service.

Food fair, not great.

IFE poor....

Seat poor..... it was the non-flat wide seat that was common in Biz class a decade ago.

Singapore Airlines they aren't, but I thought I got fair value for the price, and was able to avoid the knob heads in economy.

Hi,

I have also flown China Airlines 5-6 times form AMS to BKK. Have stopped now due to quite a large increase in the biz fare. Observations:

Concur on puctual

Service very good

Food was always ok to good and drinks are giving out liberally

IFE is individual screens in biz but you do not have VOD so cannot start movies etc when you wish

Seat is quite a large armchair (I am 1.85m) and I always felt comfortable but as stated does not fully recline

Definitely is not up to SWISS, KLM, AF standards (who I now fly biz with) but at that price go for it.

Cheers,

H.

Most of my trips to BKK have been biz class on CI, either from SFO or LAX, and I've been very pleased with them. The routes from SFO/LAX to TPE are 747's and I always try to pre-select my seats on the web site for the upper deck. It's a closer-knit setting and the service just feels a bit more personalized and attentive.

The food is very good, the service has always been excellent, and they have some really cute FA's on CI, too! :banghead And I get FF miles on Delta.

China Air used to have a route from Bangkok to Houston via Seattle and I flew business class with them many times. Service was always good and their planes were 747's which I prefer over the 777's for biz class. The biz lounge in Taipei is very good also since this is their main hub. I say go for it, I don't think that you will be disappointed.

Now that China Air has discontinued their flight to Houston I usually take Korean, the service is just as good but the tickets are about $1,000 more :banghead

Flew China air RT LAX BKK, economy, and was ok. I use EVA elite class now and I love it. Side note, best to find one airline and stick to it for the Miles earned. I wasted the miles on two RT LAX BKK. by now, I could have upgraded to 1st class.

I can sympathize. I used to go outbound to BKK from SFO or LAX on China in biz class, and back on Korean in biz because for some reason it worked out a lot cheaper than r/t fare on either one of them alone. The homeward flight on KE in biz class was only a little for more than 800 bucks a couple of years ago, but now it's about 3 times that :yikes: . Too bad, too, since KE was the best airline I've flown.
