Hi All,

Maybe this will be of help to anyone looking for a decent priced apartment/condo?

I’m currently staying in the viewtalay 1 complex. For me its an ideal location down towards jomtien so not mad busy & a decent place to chill out but importantly on the baht bus route so very easy to get to the pattaya hot spots. A short baht bus trip or 5-10 minute walk the other way takes you down to the beach at jomtien. Its got a very good sized swimming pool, id say around 25 metres & most things you need including numerous eateries, internet cafe & bars etc including some with ladies are available on the complex. There is also a supermarket situated about 50 metres away.

The lady here who I rented the condo from has quite a lot of units available & if anybody is interested she will actually do a short term rental price (condo not lady :beer ) She normally charges 750 baht a night but its a far better deal if you book for a few days as the rate is only 600 baht a night if you stay for 3 nights or more. I thought this might be of benefit to people as I know it can be hard to find a condo certainly for a short term rental without actually being here. I was renting a cheapish room in pattaya for a few days before I found the condo for it was less than half the size & so for 600 baht a night I thought this was a very good deal.

Weekly/Monthly rates are also available e.g. 2 weeks is 8000 3 weeks 11000 & 1 month is 14000. All these prices include electric & water

I really like it here & will certainly stay for at least another month & lady speak but as with anything others may want something different but I certainly think for someone like myself who prefers staying in an apartment with a decent pool & amenities to being in a hotel or a room above a bar its ideal.

I have now actually negotiated a monthly rate of 10000 baht plus electric & water & this may suit people who don’t blast the aircon 24/7 as the per unit utility prices are very reasonable indeed. I have looked at a number of the condos & the ones I have seen have been decently equipped & furnished. Individual units do vary but certainly on longer rentals she will try to help provide what facilities you require on request if she can.

For anybody interested in reservations or further questions can be made via email on: jomtienbeachcondos@gmail.com

Yeah like i say i am happy with my deal, The first time i stayed here was about 7 years ago & i paid 15000 including electric & water then. I always have a look around when i arrive at different condos & i did get offered one in view talay 2 for 9000 but the electric charge was 50% higher & to be honest i actually prefer VT1 out of the 2. A friend of mine also has one here that she would of rented me for 8000 but it was being rented out. A lot of the really cheap deals get taken long term by expats & It is also very basic & on a low floor & i prefer a high floor & a few more amenities in the room.

I have spoken to a few expats who also rent from her including one who has his own condo but it is currently rented at a higher price & he got another one from her. None have said they have had a problem so that is reassuring. My tv signal did go down the other night & i told her & the next day a man was sent to fix it so again i was happy with the service standards in that department.

She does also have a few double units available with a seperate bedroom at 1100 baht a day & im sure she will also do deals on fortnightly or long term rentals on them but for me a studio condo was more than adequate for my needs.

BTW,which cable system does your unit have,Suckphon or UBC?

I lived closeby in VT 2A and both VT1 & 2 are in a good location.

Hi LTGTR, Thanks She doesnt have a website but that link will certainly give people ideas about the complex.

I know people set up websites & maybe only have a couple of condos. I think the good thing about renting from this lady is that she has a lot of condos so far more chance of availability & certainly if you stay longish if for some reason you dont like a room or say you want something imparticular or if you prefer a high/low floor by all means you can ask to see others as i did & she will try to help.

suphon cable in mine not sure if she has rooms with UBC, however im quite happy with it maybe 60 channels & a few english does me. However last time i stayed here renting through somebody else my room didnt have cable just the few standard basic thai channels.

After a long bus trip I rented a room from the woman blink is recommending. Simply put, it was a complete shithole with no redeeming virtues. I didn't feel like wandering around looking for another place but I got out of their as early the next day as I could.

It was sort of a flophouse kind of place with a wheezing and ineffective air condtioner, dirty paint, crappy pictures of flowers poorly taped to the wall, a hot plate with a battered sauce pan sitting on it. The kind of room where alcoholics go to die.

Are you saying vt1 was like a flophouse or did you rent a "room" from the lady at another location?

Thanks for putting a link to my web site.

FYI -- none of my rooms have a flophouse type of feel. I upkeep them well.

Definitely View Talay 1 does not have a flophouse type of feel. All rooms are decorated uniquely, since each unit is individually owned. So, it really depends on how well the unit has been decorated and maintained. I keep my rental rooms in very good clean condition, however that is easy to do because I don't have many for rent.

Hi Guys not kept up with this thread for a while & now back in the UK.

Sticky, i prefer view talay 1 as particularly like the fact that there are bars & cafes etc easily accesible that open onto the outsideOn VT 2 they are all indoors so to me less of a community social feel. There are some nice condos in VT 2 though soit may be worth checking out both buildings to see which you prefer?

Saw Ricks comments & Obviously it wasnt for him. I guess i was lucky as i got a really nicely presented well furnished room on a 2 month rental. I did see quite a few of her other rooms & think she may give the not so nice ones for short term rentals (understandable really) while these may not have been so well furnished i have stayed in far worse places with not enough room to swing a cat for 600 baht a night but maybe i am not too picky.

As bangkapiboy so rightly points out rooms are individually furnished so decor can vary. He has rooms available also i believe & You may find a nice room from him or any other of the renters there although perhaps at higher prices? I was very happy with my room from this lady,as i said though i am not overly picky, these apartments are certainly not palatial but for the money i paid i was very satisfied.

If you like the complex By all means check out rooms from other renters & ask around (a couple of the bars in the building there always have rooms to rent also) & obviously try to get yourself a good room at a decent price.

If i had paid 20-25k baht for a month in a studio i would obviously expect to stay somewhere grander.

Like i stated in my original post however it may not suit everyone but i know some people who stay in some real depressing ( to me anyway) places well of the beaten track (sorry baht bus route) for around 5-6000 baht a month, I guess as with anything it is down to expectations & budget.
