Hey guys, Traveling to Phuket for a week mid July. Has anybody got a recommendation for a girl friendly place to stay in Patong? Looking to spend about 2000 Baht a night and would like to be as close to the beach and action as possible.

Cheers,

Vegie4.

Lamai hotel on thanon Rat-U-Tit across street from Kristen massage. Has nice rooms and no joiner fee. Not a bad walk to Bangla rd. I have booked them twice through sawadee.com. This is one block in from the beach, if you need right on the beach you could check out sawadee.com for others. Some are guest friendly and some aren't.

I stayed in the C and N just accross the road from the main night life of Bangla Rd and also via Bangla Rd to the beach a 5 min stroll. It svery reasonable I think around your time maybe 1000 per night bf included . No pool though at this hotel but their other hotel is a 5 min taxi ride and you are welcome to use it. I have satyed also at the Fancy hotel opposite holiday inn they have a nice little pool and good accomodation but probably near enough twice the price!

Its july, Take the taximeter at the airport (to the right if you leave the exit) Ask the driver for a cheap one night stay. Next day go walking en searching for a hotel.

Or in the evening hit the bars (day arrival) and chat with some mongers.

Works for me, cannot remember names of Hotels. But you can make good deals in July.

There is nothing like this place in the price range in Patong. Centrally loacated, beautifully designed, (think charming not flashy) and super friendly, Kelly's is now our favourite hotel in the world.

The owner Dan and his family were very laid back and unobtrusive but were always on hand with advice about what to do and where to go, what to pay etc.

The rooms were large, clean and everything in them worked, perfectly.

It is a ten minute walk to the beach and nightlife but only five minutes from the shopping areas, a small price to pay for this sort of quality at this sort of price. Can't recommend the place highly enough, if you are looking for a budget priced hotel with excellent facilities and a swimming pool too, look no further then Kelly's.

From a walk around looking at a change of hotels on my last visit to Phuket last year, I noticed quite a few which publicly refused to allow guests unless registered or wanted to charge a hefty fee even if they did allow them.

I stayed at the Yorkshire Inn for a night but it was crap and overpriced for what I wanted. With hindsight, they let me down on a couple of things which pissed me off quite a bit but the in lobby free internet was useful. However, they try to stick you with a 10% "optional" service charge and were pretty pissed off when I wouldn't pay it, even though it is advertised as optional on their website.

In the end, I went back to an old but reliable old timer of mine The Aloha Villa http://www.phuket-aloha.com/ Right on Bangla, easy for shopping and easy to beat the rates advertised. Around Bt1200 or so a night. Cannot really find a fault at the price they charge especially as they have upgraded the TV channels last year.

Try the Summer Breeze. It's not right on the beach, but only two blocks away. Soi Bangla is about 1/2 block away. So you'd be perfectly located for the nightlife.
