Hi guys

 

I want to take a trip to koh chang without booking through the street stalls.....So please could you tell me

 

1, What would be the price of a van, minivan bus from Pattaya to Trat to take the ferry?

2, When on Island how easy to find hotel? (going in March 2010)

3, Where is the best place to stay(where there are bars and birds) and how much average a night?

2000bht for a taxi....

 

when you get off the ferry taxi mafia all waiting to take you were you want to go......

 

i stop around white sands.............and rent a motor bike very safe on the island.

I booked via the travel agents on soi lk near Champagne go go.

 

They arrange for mini bus from hotel in Pattaya ferry and transport to hotel on Kon Chang and the return trip.

 

Never had any hassle and we had a great time

These agents mark up the ferry fare 200 %, they issue a special ticket with no price on it.

The problem generally is transport from port to hotel and getting around the island.... as someone says it is a bit of a mafia and sometimes it is difficult to get back to the ferry. I had a much better time when I took my own vehicle and drove there myself.

 

If you can arrange a rental, you will have a better trip (the ferry is a roro). Otherwise the Thailearner option is best, but don't take one that only drops you at the ferry terminal.

I love this place for a relaxing holiday destination with my family ,think I would go if I was looking for good time ladies.

Lot of places close about midnight ,but there is a couple of cluster areas where BF bars can be found and I think these keep open later.

 

If you think there is many Russians on holiday in Patts ,Many in Ko Chang

 

I am going with my family for 5 days in April .

 

If you are going alone catch the mini bus ,pick up at hotel and take you to hotel in Ko Chang. ,

I was qouted 3500 bhts for 2 Adults and 1 child ,return trip .So I will catch Taxi ,for about 4000 bhts same trip.

 

Before I have booked my mini bus trip at travel agency opp the Metro Appartments on Soi Lk ,guy speaks very good english and very helpful.

I went thru a travel agent in Pattaya as well back in 2005 or 2006, can't remember.

 

Had a great hotel, mini-bus pick-up to ferry, and minibus pick-up on island.

 

Everything smooth as silk. Don't know about nightlife as I just stayed at hotel all three days with girl from Pattaya.

 

Great place for a change of pace.
