Terrible Questions!

When my late wife passed here in the US, a Death Certificate became an absolutely critical document.

Were I to croak while visiting Pattaya, would a Death Certificate in English be generated? If so, it would be absolutely critical that certified copies of same reached my heirs.

What preparations should I initiate during my upcoming trip to Pats to forestall any bureaucratic nightmares for my heirs in the event of my death while there?

ADVICE, PLEASE!

why not simply die in the US and it would be a lot simpler :allright

You should contact the US Consulate in Thailand I would imagine, buy email

When you die here your body will be released to the US Embassy who ship it home, and upon arrival the body is inspected by a pathologist and the proper paperwork is completed. A copy of the Thai report might accompany the body, but the official death certificate will be issued in the USA. Not sure what happens if you simply disappear, or the body is not available, etc.

I have a last will here Frosty, and it says for my gf to have the body burnt here, providing i die before her of course.I didnt want any hassle for my son in the uk,and my gf would send some ashes in a casket with one of my friends,so is that legal????

Am sure its legal - but not so sure its a good idea if you have any kind of estate that needs to go to probate.

At the very least you should have a lawyer on the other side (your home country) prepare a version of that will and any other necessary paperwork. At the very least ask that question on a legal forum where there are posters that have a better understanding of the laws involved.

I only asked myself because I have substantial investments and assets in the USA that would need to be liquidated and distributed in the event anything happened to me, and I found it curious :)

I am not, however, an expert (or even all that knowledgeable) on the subject... Definitely get professional counsel!
