riding to cambodia is it ok what can i do and not

im planning a trip down to ko chang then possibly over to cambodia if its ok is there any motorways i have to go on ive heard motorcycles are not allowed on motorways ive bought a cbr 250 so its brand new and i want to run it in had it a few weeks and it needs a good run and apart from that ive been in hospital over xmas so this trip was ruined ive booked a few more weeks out to manage this trip otherwise ive spent most of this trip in pattaya memorial with blood poisoning advise appreciated i will post about my blood disorder later but would really appreciate any advise milage rules regs etc been coming to thailand since 2003 and shows i need to learn a bit more ive always drove my car here but fancy the change :thumbup

The Road down to Koh Chang (and cambodia) is a normal highway so the bike is fine BUT your problem will be taking the bike over the border. If its anything similar to a car then you need a "vehicle Passport" to take it out (more for bringing it back). the paperwork is tedious and you will be in the office for a while too.

Yes, it's a question of papers, papers, papers, and I don't know the motorcycle rules, or if they are different from a car, for that matter. You will almost certainly need ownership, insurance and that "passport" mentioned above for starters. Please check with the Cambodian Embassy

Hi Louie,

 

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I own a D-Tracker. Keep us posted on how you make out and what you had to do. The trip reports will be a good read.
