What do you think CBS or Combi is short for - Combined means they both brakes come on which ever lever you pull, however, pulling the front lever will activate the front more (2 pistons working on the disc) and the rear only a little (1 piston working), and visa versa when you pull the rear. It is designed to be quite subtle, certainly subtle enough for you NOT to notice !!

This was a feature on my old Honda VFR800fi from 1998, a bike I had for 9 years, so I think I know a thing or two about it (so does everyone else apart from you).

BTW - do you still think the world is flat, despite all the evidence to the contrary ?

Cant comment mate never driven to the edge of it :allright

I had wondered about the engine braking of automatics going down a mountain. I go up a mountain a couple times a week to my favorite watering hole. I know now that the engine braking is not as good as a geared bike but it is actually surprisingly good.

I had thought that it may be free wheeling but that is not the case. It actually works better than my diesel pick up truck. I use the truck gears and have to use the brakes to keep it from over revving. The scooter variator works as well going down as going up without any over revving.

Who cares about the brakes on an in town runaround?

There are plenty of Bike forums to discuss the boring bits.

I have ridden the following and here is my view.

Mio 115CC - Quite slow and not very stable over bumps (Pattaya's roads)

Click 125CC - I got on very well with this workhorse of a scooter in Hua Hin comfortable and nippy.

Fino 125CC - Oh my god how can girls like this thing ? I had a sore arse after riding it for 10 mins so uncomfortble on these roads. My wife agreed and she was pinnion, we said we'd never buy one

Nouvo Elegance 135CC - The bike we have now. Modern looking with a good comfortable ride. Good brakes which only lock when you pull the lever as hard as you can. And if you want to get away from the Buffalo at the lights it's very nippy from the off. And the pannion will hold 2 helmets inside.
