What they never tell you is that solar chargers tend to be quite feeble vis-a-vis AC types so it can take days to charge a laptop or an iPad etc. And no sun or cloudy double or triple that.

Vs. Putting a note go look elsewhere for $230 buckeroos what's the power output in volts and amps and if a battery is integral what capacity in watt hours?

At least put a link to the site with the facts.

For the above poster here is the information you requested from the power traveller website that i specified above....

Imagine it...free power anywhere...

In the desert, on safari, up a mountain or simply on the move, the solargorilla portable solar charger gives your powergorilla juice anywhere under the sun. solargorilla is also a viable charging option for laptops under 40 watts and it can even charge your mobile phone, iPod, handheld games consoles and many more devices from the 5V USB output.

solargorilla works via two PV (photovoltaic) solar panels, which generate electric current when they are exposed to sunlight. The solar panels are made of glass which greatly improves the performance of the solargorilla as well as making the aesthetics of the unit better. The Red LED on the solargorilla indicates the strength of charge - the more UV intensity - the better it will work! The technically advanced solar panels ensure superb power and reliable performance, all housed in a tough outer casing.

solargorilla features:

- tough, rubberised casing

- portable, fold-up design protects your solar panels when stored

- water resistant design

- slot to allow solargorilla to be suspended on vehicle or tent for outdoor use

- 20V power socket out and standard 5v USB socket

- red LED charging indicator

- dimensions: 264 x 200 x 19mm

- weight: 820g

Kit contains:

- 1 x solargorilla portable solar charger

8 x Gorilla Male straight tips:

- L01D

- L51D

- L52D

- L53D

- L54D

- L55D

- L61D

- L73D

8 x mobile devices tips:

- DC2.0 (mini Nokia)

- Micro USB

- Mini USB

- Samsung G600

- LG Chocolate

- Sony Ericsson wide connector

- DC4.0 for Sony PSP

- Nintendo DS Lite

4 x Accessories:

- DC extension cable (2m)

- USB extension cable (2m)

- zipped case

- Velcro strap

Note: solargorilla is a charging option. It is primarily designed to be used in conjunction with the powergorilla and may not work with some laptops over 40 watts directly. It relies on the UV intensity of the sun. Therefore, at certain times of the year it may not be suitable for use in the Northern Hemisphere unless combined with the powergorilla. The solargorilla solar charger has been trialled successfully in the Southern Hemisphere by aid agencies, emergency services, the military and adventure travellers, where power is a crucial element of their communications strategy. The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation suffered communications problems in the past and the products have been hugely acclaimed as being a long overdue solution to power issues. Pre-production units have also been on field tests in Africa, Australia and even Afghanistan.

What it doesn't have is the power output which for a power supply is kind of important. But it cannot handle 40W so not of much use for a large amount of $.
