Retirement reporting

Recommended Posts

Joe, the thread was about retirement reporting in LOS and my post was a comparison between the reporting requirements in RP (there arn't any) and LOS. I was not focussed so much on the Residency side of it, as you just automatically get that with your "Retirement" application in RP, thats what makes it so simple. I imagine that Residency in RP WITHOUT a Retirement visa is a different matter altogether.

I was not aware that Residency in Thailand was an option for Retirees, but you obviously know a lot more than me. I have to wonder why so many BM struggle to cope with onerous reporting and renewal requirements if the residency option is available to 50+

"The thing is that the Thais (and the Australians) aren't much convinced that retired people do much for the country, and the Philippines folks are. That outlook is pretty important to the procedures."

Not necessarily so, my mother has many elderly friends who have been given Residency to join their families in oz. They are entitled to the same social services as the locals, as are the numerous refugees given the same residency.

Forgot to add,, 7 days late and it's 2,000 baht fine. Not sure if there is a fine for 1-6 days late.

It's something new. It's posted on the door to imagration now.

You have to show up every 90 days and fill out a form, and give them a copy of your passport, and rental agreement, or ownership papers. There is no cost, and it goes fairly fast. I've been in and out in under 5 minutes before. The first time you go, go next door, get 4 copies of your passport, and 4 of your rental agreement, You will have them ready for next time. You can go up to 7 days in advance of your report date. If you leave the country, the 90 days starts again the day that you return.

It's always changing it seems. I was also asked to bring two copies of my departure card on the next reporting.

A residency permit for Thailand is NOT a simple thing. I did seriously check it out and besides being expensive, it involves a lot of hassle. This may not be totally correct but if I remember correctly the application fee is about 100,000 baht. My retirement visa extensions are 1,900 baht. No way I would live long enough to make that economical.

I do my 90 day reporting in Khon Kaen

So easy.

Fill form in ,copy of passport and copy of my extension due to retirement stamp.

Obtain ticket for the 90 day extension from machine in office.

Normal does not take more than 5 minutes from start to finish

As been said before you can not do a 90 day reporting if your extension stamp has expired,

So best to get your paper work /letter from my embassy in my case ,ect, ect at least 2 weeks before your old extension stamp expires. Then you have all paper work to take to imm office and can obtain new stamp couple days before old stamp expires.
