Exporting Golf shirts???

Recommended Posts

Me and my golfing buddies back home in England are having a Scottish golf tour in September.

There are 12 of us going and we thought it would be a great idea to have polo shirts with logos for us to wear made for us. We looked at prices in UK and it was starting to get expensive. Me and my big mouth I told them I was on my way back to Thailand and I am sure the shirts would be cheap there.

So my questions are: I know that shirts are cheap but does anyone know a place to get a logo embroided on them?

If I was to ship 12 shirts back to UK how much roughly would this cost as cant see getting in suitcase? and in the end would it be worth the hassle and cheaper than doing in UK?

I am returning to Pattaya in March and maybe a small trip in June so I will be in LOS two times before I go on golf trip.

Any suggestions welcome

Cheers

duece,

You should have no trouble bringing back the shirts if your going to be in Pattaya twice, bring back 6 each trip if necessary.  You could carry them on the aircraft in a small bag, myself I usually have more room in my suitcase on the return trip than going to Pattaya.

Hi;

That shouldn't be a problem either. You can ask for it probably on any tailor shop. They send it to be done anyway.

We did it back in October with a tailor shop on walking street. Pretty much mid way on the side of FLB.

I am there on March as well. Hope to meet you for a drink or a prowl.

Hub,

I get my golf shirts in one of two stalls.  One inside Mike's and one near to the AA hotel/Hopf on Beach Road.  They do up to XXXXL (necessary for some of my friends) and the quality of the material and finish is excellent.  If you are around in May I will take you down one afternoon.

If you are in BKK there are a couple of excellent embroidery shops in the MBK Mall who will do up your logo on their PC and run the finished article off for you.

Regards,

Tom

duece,

If my earlier post is not feasible and since the time between trips is only a few months, leave some of your clothing that you won't need back home with a friend in Pattaya, either Thai or an expat.  If Thai, preferably not a BG because she might be visiting family or on a L/T barfine when you return, and give them some baht for their trouble.  If an expat, don't give them any baht because he is your friend, but since your return trip you'll be traveling light, you'll have room to bring him his favorite smokes, booze or any other item that he can't get in Pattaya.

Smart thinking Emil -  leaving some luggage in LOS. Reminds me of something I saw on this board a couple years ago. Supposedly the Bangkok Dynasty Inn will store luggage in the hotel storage room for a few months.  :D Believe someone wanted to leave golf clubs there.  Don't recall anything other than that one post.

Been trying to recall where I saw an open-air shop that did quality logo embroidering. Maybe it was on Second Road a few blocks south of the South Pattaya Road stop light. Remember seeing caps with the big gold letters and Harley Davidson type embroidery on jackets. Think I'd want to stand behind the chap at the sewing machine to see the design, colors, positioning were acceptable before the production was run. Maybe some tailors do this for you. And it might be best to take a logo sample to Pattaya if you have one you want to match.

Thanks guys

Some really helpful replys.  :) :)

The reason I was thinking about shipping back to UK is that I am now taking my golf clubs with me to LOS and that puts me right on the weight limit with the airline already, I thought it would be cheaper to send than pay extra baggage charges.

Again thanks for the replys most apppreciated.

Yea catch you for a beer SF I arrive 23rd March if yiou are still about.

Cheers

I cant believe sven did what he did in what amounted to the aussies world cup final, I couldnt stand it if they start beating us at football as well. In all fairness though I went to the game and we didnt deserve anything better.

Duece, I have never found an airline yet that has worried about my golf clubs.   ::)  They go separately and are not usually even weighed, they come under sports gear which is carried free from all my experience of hauling my golf clubs to various places over recent years.  So just concentrate on your main luggage weight and forget the golf clubs.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey duece,

Ask at any of the stalls...you can get most embroidery done for 200 baht...just tell them what you want...the guy that used to have the embroidery place on Walking Street is now on Second Road betwenn South Pattaya Rd and Mikes...sorry can't be more accurate...

Oh and on football..shit happens hey!!! It was only a matter of time...I still cannot believe that the Aussies who were beaten by the Sheep Shaggers (NZ) could beat England 3-1...anyway, anyone for cricket, rugby league union ;D ;D ;D
