Guesthouses/ Hotels full for New Years Eve?

Recommended Posts

Coming to Pattaya on spur of the moment and I was wondering how full the guesthouses seem to be now. I emailed a couple of my previous favorites, but I haven't heard anything back ( don't know if they are full or just slow getting back to me).

Can anyone on the ground give me an idea of the difficulty of making a last minute reservation? Do most places seem fully booked now?

Thanks in advance

Only a week back The Drunken Duck posted they had some rooms left, they are in the LK Metro area and the rooms look ok, you can PM them on here or look up their website and ask, im sure they will reply fairly quickly, or try to PM GreenMalaka

Me too..... a friend previously offered me a condo...now he says it isn't available!!!!!

I need a room tomorrow........

I just spoke to another friend who arrived today and he seems to think there are plenty of places......

Last year I got a room at 1pm, but by 3 the large (and not great) hotel was full.

I wish they had the "NO" "VACANCY" lights that you see in Blackpool!

Thanks, just got an email from Drunken Duck and they are full until the 2nd.

Thanks anyway. I think I'll just have to look when I get there.

well, I should be there by 3:30pm so I hope there is something in the Metro area. I just can't believe that everything is full given how awful Europe is and the fact that Bangkok is dry again.

For a little bit more than the price for a guest house I'm sure there are many hotels available. Residence Garden always seems to have rooms. Very good value

Thanks, I'll try them. Every place I've contacted has been full.

You can email the Residense Garden from the beginning of this website, they advertise a special rate for board members booking via this website, if you can email them today, you will get a reply within 24 hours

I think Bangkok isn't a factor, a lot of people head out for NYE. There is a lot of live music on in Pattaya this year which brings a lot of Thais into town.

Then there is the compulsory 'Gala Dinner' a lot of places force upon you!

Darn, I just made a prick of myself. I phoned a few places and got a 'fully booked sir' response.

So I thought, give Agoda a try......

A lot of high prices there for NYE... but there is a reasonable hotel at not too bad a price, and available. So I start the booking process.

I am asked to confirm number of guests..... and I think, well you never know, I may just have company, better to keep the option than get hassled for joiner fee or suchlike...so I book for double occupancy.

Then I stop looking closely.....big mistake.

I confirm and everything and nearly fall out of my chair when I see the total being taken off my card.

I have just paid an extra US$285 for Gala Dinner, compulsory, for 2 persons!!!!!

So my 2011 ends badly, good riddance. I have paid a fortune for a Gala dinner I don't want to go to!

It is too late to cancel and I am unable to moidify. By the way normally if you cancel within 7 days of the booking you lose 1 nights hotel charge , but the booking is only 1 night and it is too late to cancel anyhow.

Getting old sucks!

Well, I never did find a hotel in Pattaya so I decided to stay in Bangkok ( I was coming in from the Middle East). Couldn't get a flight or bus to Isaan, so my revised plan was to have a good New Years Eve in some of the fine performing arts centers in BKK. Stayed in Avana hotel, went to the restaurant for lunch. Had 3 Leos but as I hadn't had any alcohol for months it went right to my head so I went back to my room and was asleep by 6pm.

Now back in my Lair in Udon so all is well. Planning to go to Pattaya the week after Songkran. :bhappy
