opening a thai bank account

Recommended Posts

You can't increase the limit defined in the ATM: usually 20 or 25 notes max.

Then 25,000 baht max, but you can play again ;)

Yes you can, mine is higher than that, there is a limit per transaction, if that is not enough for you to withdraw, you can withdraw again to meet your limit. but at BKK Bank, i can withdraw more notes than you are stating.

Thanks Glyn. I have been waiting for someone to state all of that in 2 sentences for seemingly years.

One other point please, other than ATM fees (what are they please) are there any other fees loaded onto the account over the year?

ATM withdrawals are free if you use your bank's ATM machines in the province where your branch is located. Use another ATM or go outside your province and there is a 20 or 25 baht charge. Big deal. I have had no other charges on the account apart from a small charge for electronic transfers out (again 25 baht). I have never deposited money electronically so cannot comment on fees for this. I also get interest, a very low rate, but it's something.

Glyn.

Jacko, did you know that you will have a ATM withdrawal limit and a spend limit on your accounts, dont matter what bank you are with. You got to go into the bank or on line to increase them both

I seem to recall that I could get more from another banks machine with the same card.

If getting a Kasikorn account make sure you get the normal K-debit card. They may give you the more expensive K-Max card and you will pay 700 baht (as opposed to 300) for the bonus or having some extra health insurance.

Is that every year too?
