Interesting Stats from CAA for Jan 2012 compared to Jan 2011 ;-

Dubai 59.900 + 16%

Abu Dhabi 21,250 + 25%

Doha 26,520 + 77%

Singapore 9600 + 21%

So what do these stats tell us for the future ?

Emirates - A380 has been leaving with average 95% loads.

EK 022 - expect A330 to be replaced with B777-300ER later this year.

EK 020 - loads have been over 95% so expect A380 to replace B777-300ER

later this year,

Qatar - Expect double daily to return Oct - with the introduction of B787 Dreamliner on QR 046

Etihad - B777-300ER to be introduced on evening departure Sept/Oct 2012

Singapore - At present service is via Munich however with average 154 per flight from

Manchester and recent fare reductions around the £520 mark expect direct flights to

return later this year.

I hope you are right about SQ.

Since SQ routed flights via Munich loads have gone from on average 60 to 154 a flight and more

interesting has been the recent increase in premium seats sold from Manchester. Coupled with the usual

high freight loads (100% most flights) and SQ pricing Y flights around £520 mark something is telling me

direct flights could be back sooner than we think.

Well obviously some prefer Munich to Delhi.

The increase in SQ Premium seats is interesting, perhaps more recent retirees having the trip of a lifetime, and Singapore being part of that itinerary.

I would be pleased to see SQ direct return, but it failed before.....

OP thanks for the post, interesting figures. Are the increases at the expense of Heathrow flights or just a general increase in numbers nationally?

Just an hunch on my part, but personal experience has indicated, that Etihads numbers have increased, since onward connections to Oz started up. I do find that there are often empty seats in Pearl though, since frequency increased. (A bit of a relief on the A330s now in use, which are a lot more "claustrophobic" than the 777s).

Just been checking prices for a trip in June (for me, my other half and my daughter ) and currently the cheapest option was a out on Swiss and back with Lufthansa........

Not planning on booking til May, hopefully prices will drop before then.

Beware, depends on when you want to travel. Not only the school holidays will affect availability this year. The Diamond Jubilee early June, and of course the Olympics, July 27-12 August.

Also keep a good check on timings (layover) on that fare, especially the return trip; they have on occasions involved layovers in excess of 10 hours.

I never holiday during school holidays, and it's late June we will be traveling, so hopefully the Diamond Jubilee effect will be over, and the Olympic effect won't have started for the return flights.

What surprised me is that neither Emirates or Etihad were anywhere near being the cheapest for the dates I selected for the quote.

Both Emirates and Etihad had recent sales so i suspect less availability with these airlines.

I noticed for Ethiad that my price went up for a departure (ex BKK) after May 31st. They are still the cheapest Biz Class option for me though. Similar dates to you I think. Have left it for now as I noticed there were cancellation or change of flight fees on that booking. Edited by jacko

I just jumped in and bought my Biz Class BKK to Manchester........

Etihad were coming in cheapest (excluding rubbish airlines) and when I took a look recently what was over 98,000 baht last week, was available at 88,060 baht, so I jumped in.

Now that it is bought for sure the specials will come pouring out! :D

That is good for Thai price and is the same as best available return, buying in the UK.
