To  okulyt; will make short and to the point, in Bangkok stay at the travelodge hotel/ shukumvit crown or narry hotel, you can find their e-mail addresses in the web. go to nana plaza, soi cowboy or patpong. in pattaya stay at the White inn or the penthouse hotel and for girls go to soi diamond or soi pattayaland 1/2. have fun  Uber alle!!!

Hi Soldat.

Any idea as to price ,bed sizeand safes etc.

Hi Fonz; I have had the opportunity to stay at the White Inn hotel a few times. its close to soi diamond  (paralell to it), great location to the bulk of pattaya's nightlife, be it walking street/soi diamond or pattayaland 1/2/3. convenient when you want to bring another girl, just walk one block and you are in soi Diamond!!!  ;D ;). charge is around B450-650 p/night. rooms are good, clean, maid service daily, have cable tv, full bath a/c, safe deposit boxes at the front desk. one drawback is that after certain time in the evening there is no room service, if you are hungry after lovemaking you have to go outside for some munchies :P. not noisy and friendly staff, can bring as many girls as you can handle or the room can handle!!! 8). the address, phone you can find in the web. i have no problems going back to this hotel. true, there are of course other places that'll blow away this hotel if we compare them, but, for the times  that you don't feel spending too much or just keeping a low profile, this is the place. this was my first hotel I stayed in my first Pattaya trip and never fails me ever since whenever i need it. if you have to give it a rating, guess it would be "2 stars" :) :)///.

Fonz; I always try to share my travel experiences and info with fellow travellers. i was there last Nov/dec 2001, expect to be back around late this year, probably around Oct/Nov. job commintments won't allow me great flexibility in terms of dates and most of the time have to juggle dates. thinking in going to Russia, but, that's another trip still on the planning board. one think i'm still debating is where to stay, want to check new places, otherwise I might stay at the White inn again for a few days.  the FLB is a great place to chill in the evenings.   Cheers 8)///

regarding your comment about where to go for the ladies. its all down to opinion, and in my opinion do not stray outside pattaya. phuket has bars, but the ratio of girls-guys there is not in the punters favour. koh samui? forget it. sure there are bbars, but not many. bangkok, ok but again it cannot touch pattaya. sure pattaya has a dirty beach/sea, but if you were going on holliday for the beach, you would go to lanzarote.

Okulyt; i think you have a pretty good idea whatto expect here in pattaya. for a first timer this place is perfect, super town offering all the goodies a city can give, gorgeous oriental girls, ratio as mentioned earlier is on your favor, plenty of places to go, wether agogobars, bars, massage parlors, etc. everything here is gear for the tourist and you won't be disappointed. you should spend a few days in Bangkok 'cause it has a lot to offer in a greater scale as compare to Pattaya, but, that might be a matter of opinion. do a good search on the web 'cause its very convenient in planning your trip (DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!). do this initially, then in future visits you can start venturing to other places like Phuket, Chiang mai, Hatya an so on. just be careful and use comon sense. 8) :)///

To okulyt; What i was trying to convey is to be aware that bad elements and crime do exist in Thailand too. be aware of your surroundings, people you meet (local or foreign), don't be so open when dealing with strangers, flashing large amounts of money is a serious invitation to get mugged or worse kill. there was a case not far ago in which 4 or 5 foreigners were killed after been lured into taking taxi services from the very Don Muang airport in Bangkok, not trying to scare anybody; just pointing out that however wrong these incidents are, they can happen in the LOS. plainly said, be city smart. Now with the internet,  the ability to chart your trip is awesome, wish i had this tool years ago and not just relied on magazines or friend's talk. surfing the web give such advantage in planning that is second to none. ;)///

thnx again to soldat,

such information is at last as useful as all the others.

it opens ones mind a little to have close look to all surroundings.

now --- as it seems as if you know thailand good and have a lot of experience .... would you recommend something special to newbies like me ?

e.g. some special internet sites and some hints how to plan ?

for me i decided so far to book a packaged tour for the 1st visit. so - i think - i can make my own picture of wahts going and how it is going on and i do ot have the muddle to plan where to go and so on ..... what you thing.

hope you are not bothered and do not min to answer .

regards

So what can go wrong on your first trip to LOS?.-

1.  The night before you leave your house is burgled, and your suitcase and passport are stolen >:(

2.  Some one else goes with your I.D. and suitcase :'(

3.  The taxi to the airport breaks down and crashes, you get injured and put in hospital for your holiday >:(

4.  Your wife rings the travell agent and finds out that your not going to Hong Kong on business, and demands its me or Thailand, pick  :-/

5.  You find out that Bin Laden is on the same flight as yours >:(

6.  You so so exited on the flight to LOS that you drink too much, get arrested for being drunk, get DVT on the plane and have a heart attack in BKK arrivals ;)

7.  The plane crashes on the way and you just dont make it to LOS  :(

8.  You pick the first Taxi Hawker you meet when you arrive and get mugged >:(

9.  There is a REAL Govt crackdown in LOS. ???

10. Your wife/girlfriend finds out where your going and puts a small plastic bag filled with talcum powder in your suitcase. :P

11. You go through a time warp and arrive in LOS in the stone age ::)

12. You fall in love with a BG and leave with a broken heart :'(

13.  You get drunk in a bar and get stroppy with the police when they come to sort you out, you do this because you think the Thai Police can be messed with ;D

14. You decide to go Bare Back and get HIV  :(

15. You pick a fight with a Thai cause your drunk and they are only small people anyway, only 6 of his friends are around and beat the shit outa you :-[

16. Your a fucking Scum Sucking peadofile and your police intelligence inform the Thai Authorities that your on as flight to LOS,

your set up and you go to the Bangkok Hilton for 30 years where you share a cell with 5 guys collectively known as the BIG BUBBA'S and you become thier Bitch until they KILL your perverted ass :)

17. There is a Global war and some nut pushes the button :(

18. You get drafted into the army to fight terrorism.

19. You arrive and find that Thailand is closed :o

20. You decide because of all the above your not going to go to LOS afterall ::)

I can think of a thousand reasons not to go to Thailand, and I can think of only one reason to go :P :P :P, Ive already bought my ticket, booked my hotel and I'll be on my way in 4 weeks. I hope you enjoy your trip to LOS.

Be Smart be nice and be safe, dont be stupid, arrogant or rude and will love it :-*

  • 3 months later...

::)

I too am about to make my first trip. Of course I have a couple of inane questions.

1) Is there any part of town I should avoid for reasons of safety?

2) Is there an abundance of ATM's? Would hate to run out of cash....aaaaaarrrrggghhh!

Thanks for any help

SF. I have been to Pattaya 5 times in the last 8 months and have never had a problem.  Stick to the tourist areas and you will have no problems.  As for ATM's they are everywhere.  There are banks, currency exchanges, and ATM's everywhere.  Don't worry, you will be happy.

Solo,

You forgot to mention no 21, which actually happened to a friend's cousin.

You are shit scared of flying, particularly after September 11th so you spend the time before the flight in a bar and end up totally rat-arsed. The airline crew refuse to believe your protests that you are as jober as a sudge and refuse to let you fly. Despite their offer to let you fly out the following day when you've sobered up, you piss off into London and head straight for Soho where you spend a fortune in a strip bar and cannot now afford to go to Thailand.

Alan

PS

This guy also claims to be proud to have a young son in Thailand but does fuck all to support the poor kid.

???Was enjoying reading until I got to the bit about the 4 Tourists killed on the taxi trips from airport to pty.  I am arriving on the 20th August at midday and would like to hear what you feel is the best way of travelling - was thinking about the train - trying to see a bit of the country - or else by Taxi, but now not so sure - Bus maybe - comments appreciated.
