I cannot see links to videos/photos

Recommended Posts

It seems that when somebody starts a thread and posts a link to a video or photo(s), I can't see that link. This appears to be only links in the original first post. I can see other members' subsequent posts commenting on the video/photo(s), so I assume that the link is there and other members can see it, but there is no link on my PC. Do I need to change a setting? If it helps, I am running Windows 7 and browsing with Firefox 11 (although I had the same problem on previous versions of Firefox).......Oh! that just made me think that it was Firefox which caused the problem so I just thought that I'd see if I can view the links using Internet Explorer and voila! I clicked on Gabor's thread "Songkran VDO-what I witnessed" and it was there in all it's glory for me to view in IE. Right clicking on the video showed me that I was viewing it via Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.233. Is Adobe Flash Player not compatible with Firefox? I doubt that. So would some kind person explain to me how I can get it to work. Regards.

Use Chrome?

Yeah, I could use IE but my preferred browser is Firefox. I'd just like to know how to get things working in Firefox. It bugs me when something doesn't work as it should. And maybe I've got too much time on my hands so I WILL do it eventually!

I use Firefox and have no problems viewing any links that are posted. I do know, however, that there was an issue recently with the new Adobe update, but whether that would affect the 'missing links' I have no idea.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

It's probably a problem with the Adobe plug-in. Go to http://www.mozilla.o...US/plugincheck/ and run the test to see if your plug-ins are up to date and correctly installed. You should get a result like this:

If you aren't running Shockwave Flash 11.2.202.233, it will show an orange bar that says "Update."

Thanks for the suggestion Evil but I tried that and Shockwave Flash is up to date. I viewed Gabor's opening post on his thread "Songkran VDO-what I witnessed" in IE, and it's an embedded video on which you just have to click on the arrow in the centre of the screen in order to play it. However, that video does not show at all in my Firefox screen. Puzzling!

You might want to check the Tools tab, then click Add-ins and Plugins to make sure Shockwave hasn't been disabled. If it hasn't, then it is indeed puzzling. That video shows up fine on my Firefox browser.
