We've stayed at the Flipper Lodge and found it OK.

Good location for the nightlife.....although a bit noisy.

A couple of friends have also stayed at the Lek and said much the same so,I guess, theres little to choose between them.

If your looking on the asiatravel site for the Lek the rooms do look very nice but I think youll find that they will be the 1800 baht deluxe rooms not the 750 standard.

The Flipper Lodge you dont have to pay extra when you bring a TG back and I'm pretty sure its the same for the Lek....you can always try one  hotel for a couple of nights and if you dont like it change.

Vanilla73,

Your over thinking this and your only spending about 14 euros per night. At this price level the Flipper Lodge is a bargain for what you get. If you stay at the Flipper tell them you want a room in the back away from soi 8 and all the noise.

Lek Hotel has a price of 750 Baht for the old rooms and 1200 baht for the new rooms, I stopped by there in Feb 2004 to check. The pool is very nice, but for 1200 Baht, you could do better.  Go across the street and the Apex wants 450 baht and there pool is acceptable

So many places to choose from, it's up to you and what you want in a room.
