Biz Class BKK to MAN

Recommended Posts

I need to go back early September for at least 2 weeks and have been looking at my options.

I fly to Manchester and buy my ticket at the Thailand end.....

My last trip was with Etihad, just a couple of months back....it was 88,000 baht. It was quite good apart from a really shit transfer in AUH on the way back where I had to get between the terminals and boy was it overcrowded.

Shopping around this week and last and I can't seem to get below 100,000 baht incl for this route. Qatar are a bit more even.

Anyone think it is worth waiting to see if something opens up?

I was looking at the cost from the UK end (MAN-BKK-MAN), and it can be had for the equivalent of 80,000 baht, even Etihad for about 85k. Not sure how I can take advantage of that.

Tempted to just pay an extra 20,000 and enjoy the Biz Class A380 experience (Emirates).....anybody want to comment on whether that is worth it?

Tom, I have you on ignore but I knew your response to this would be worth a look.

I just plugged those dates into the Qatar site and came back with nearly 115,000 baht.

And why does the DOH-MAN flight take 8.35hr with 0 stops?

Is that lastminute.com you are using?

No ... cheaptickets.co.th ... edreams is around 2k more expensive (they price in GBP, so it depends on fx rates - GBP 1,891 is the price they show).

Cheaptickets is one of the few secure sites that seems to throw up decent prices in THB and allow you to book using a CC or DC.

Hmm. It must be very date specific. I tried cheaptickets.co.th last week and the only carrier under 100k was Finnair, and a search I just did there brought up Qatar at 106,010. I was initially looking specifically for Etihad and cheaptickets.co.th was showing 110k...... I knew there was a 98k on their own site.

Thanks.

Qatar is now showing 90k on their own website. If I can get similar prices to EDI, I might make a trip myself.

I normally fly cattle class but last year went Bizz class on the A380 with Emirates Man to Bkk. I cant compare it to any other Bizz class as not done it, however not sure how good it is!!

On arriving at Man (if within 70 miles of airport free exec taxi there and back) I got me and my mate upgraded free to 1st class on the 1st leg so the 2nd leg in Bizz was a bit of an anti climax. The bar at the back was great though, we propped it up for a couple of hours drinking Kia Royal champagne cocktails, then onto Vodka Martinis, shaken not stirred. the food was very good and excellent service

Etihad are now offering quite a few more tickets in the 93,000 baht range.

As usual I moved too soon......... Etihad offer the inclusive chauffeur cars which can save me quite a few thousand baht, and it sure is convenient.

Nice Merc at the Manchester end, and getting picked up/ dropped right at the terminal is nice.

Much better prices are available from the UK end these days.

Chauffeur at the Thailand end won't go as far as Pattaya for free though. (60km max). Pretty classy Merc at the Manchester end....
