Just how busy is Pattaya at the moment? My (soi 7 waitress) tg is whinging about having to work late every evening. She says she can make money (tips) at the moment, but it is making her tired. I know its still high season, and the Chinese new year must be about now, but I suspect full loads and Germans lol. So, busy or not?

Chinese New Year isn't until Feb (the 10th I believe), so that isn't a factor. Germans are few and far between.

Russians, Middle Easterners, Indian sub-continent, and mainland China are the biggest groups to be in town now (not necessarily in that order).

Should be getting the early stage cobra gold guys arriving soon as well. WS will be busy (or rather the 7-11's) . Actually, anyone know the exact dates of CG this year?.

Cheers

A quick search only yielded 'mid-February', the exact dates are hush-hush, need to know basis. :D

Burmah will play along too.

Damn, I'll have to give the pentagon a call.

Not too fussed, just don't want my few days in fun town having to avoid WS due to massive crowds. At least the yanks actually go into the bars tho, more than can be said for most of the WS visitors these days....

Quite a few hotels booked up for feb as well by the looks of things. Might have to either step my budget up a bit...is Skytops still open...? :)

You need to read around the board more, Skytops has closed and that block looks derelict and ready for knocking down.

BigD all a flutter as his usual 'home from home' not available.

There are heavy crowds in WS most of high season with the high Russian contingent. Personally don't mind the Americans in town, but when a gang of them arrive in a GGB I am in, I usually move on...........

Do they have vacancies?

Agoda had vacancies. Page 10 normally goes for about $70 US and is now $174 on Agoda. I have been to Pattaya before in Feb but hotel prices seem much higher than I have ever seen.

The reason I asked is because you might get a better rate if you walk in and ask for a deal. If they're full up then that would be pointless. By all accounts, the bars are not busy so I wonder who would be staying at Tims. Doesn't strike me as the type of place that would be used by Russians.

Last year the hotels in Angeles were all full but the bars were quiet. No 'regular' Tourists in Angeles, only Mongers. Lots of people hooking up on Facebook and Dating Sites and giving the bars a swerve.

Lol

I was being ironic re the Sykslops statement, sorry.

Seriously though, I'll head out of town during Cobra Gold, even though the US guys are no problem, the crowds do my head in.
