Thai Airways arrival lounge

Recommended Posts

I will be flying with THAI from Zurich to Bangkok on the 30th of this month. On arrival at the new airport I need to connect to Don Muang for a flight to Udon Thani. As I will be flying THAI business class and have a Senator card with the Star Alliance I was wondering what is the possibility of taking a shower (my flight arrives at 06.10am and before taking a taxi to Don Muang) after baggage collection. There seems to be a lounge in the baggage collection hall before customs and I was wondering if any BMs had used the facilities? More specifically are there showers and do they provide towels etc? Although this is far from my first trip I have never had any need for a shower as always spend first night in BKK. My thanks fo your input.

I found this comment from July 2011 but the situation may have changed.

At Suvarnabhumi airport, Thai Airways operates no less than seven lounges and a separate spa, none of them in the international arrivals area. With the exception of one lounge, in the domestic concourse, all the other lounges and the spa are in the international departures area, which is inaccessible unless you are connecting to another international flight from Bangkok on the same day.

Consequently, premium passengers arriving in Bangkok on Thai are denied this small bit of relaxation and comfort. A rude and unhelpful Airports of Thailand staff, only further degrades an arriving passenger's euphoria after a flight with good on-board service.

I have no idea what facilities there are at the re-opened Don Muang, other than there was a hotel opposite, Amari offering overpriced, short duration rooms for travellers.

Most guys arriving in Bangkok are rushing into town... :D and it is perhaps why the toilets in arrivals contain people stripped to the waist cleaning themselves up.

Aside from what Thai Airways has to offer, isn't there a day hotel or some such thing somewhere in the airport where you can rent a room for a few hours or by the day? Depending on the cost, that might suffice.
