Ambassador Royal Suites Bangkok

Recommended Posts

I’m planning to spend the first week of my trip in BKK before heading to PTY.  I was wondering if any of the boardies have stayed at the Ambassador Royal Suite.  It’s located next to the Ambassador Hotel.  I’ve found many reports on the hotel but none on the suites.  The location seems good, the price seems reasonable for a 1 bedroom and since it is a serviced apartment I think that it should be guest friendly.

I haven’t spent much time in BKK so any info that you can provide is appreciated.

I am also interested in staying there on my next visit. I came across the following report on another forum. It would appear that there is no hassle with "entertaining" guests. ;)

Booked into the Ambassador Royal Suites around 10am, nice to be able to check in early at no extra cost. Could not find reception it is awfully confusing. Basically you go in where the car park entrance is from Soi 13, take a lift to floor 11, cross the patio to the where the Royal Suites start. Their rooms on paper looked excellent value. I was quoted 1,200 baht a night (one week rate) inc. taxes (no breakfast) for their 50 sq m one bedroom suite, but was swung by the Spa of the larger room 105 sq m, despite being over twice as expensive at 2,800 baht per night. (The thought of me and three Thai lovelyís in that Jacuzzi was too good to resist, I hoped it would be as big as it looked in the photos). Both included some nice bonuses like fruit, newspaper and 3 pressings each day. The one drawback was they did not have the in-room safe of the GP. (Later found some did). Check in was fast, had to pay in advance to get special rate. The hotel was dead, hardly a soul around. On entering the room I was not disappointed with the space, large dining and sitting area, huge bar with small kitchen incorporated. TV, but no DVD/video. Separate bathroom with sink, bath, shower, toilet and large walk in shower. The separate bedroom was also huge with double bed, two bedside cabinets, cupboard, small table and chairs, desk and of course the massive jacuzzi and spa area complete with mirrors (it did not disappoint). A perfect party room! My only negative comments are the decoration was not inspired and did not have the class of the PS, but for space and price could not be beat. Location is great, but the real downside is getting up the suites themselves, from Soi 13, it is a bit of a drag and sometimes a little depressing. There is a direct walkway to the main Ambassador Hotel from the third floor where you have full use of the extensive facilities. The Gym is huge, swimming pool excellent and also has a host of other sporting activities. Safe deposit boxes are in the main hotel too.

I rented a condo for 6 months just down Soi 13 from the ARS and rarely saw anyone about the place.  Most of the comments from folks who've seen the rooms have been fairly negative, so I never bothered having a look.

Short review from another forum.

"I just checked the Ambassador Royal Suite  rooms. A different building than the Ambassador hotel (but adjacent), some meters of walking is required though. Rooms are equipped with old furniture, some rooms were very smelly. The price seems ok, but I would not recommend the rooms (imo the rooms in the nana/ grand president are better). "

Guys,

Thanks for you responses.

I’m now leaning towards the President Solitaire suites although it’s an extra $20 per night.  I’ve read a couple of things about this place, most were positive and the 42” plasma screen TV will be nice.

If anyone has anything additional information about either hotel please let me know.
