Pattaya License Plate Wanted

A friend of mine that collects exotic license plates has asked me if I can get him a Pattaya license plate.

 

My first question is it legal to take a license plate out of the country? If so, what are the requirements?

 

If I get past the first question, is there anyone that would give or sell me cheaply an old plate? Car or cycle would be fine.

Best way to get one is off a vehicle that's been totalled, but HOW is another story.

I guess you could pay some tea money to the BiB at the local station to take a plate off one of the wrecks of a deceased person.

There are many moto and car Chonburi plates on eBay and all around $10-12.

I looked for a Thai license plate for years without any luck, even after asking several long time expats about it - then one day I took a long walk along Sukhomvit from Pattaya Tai to Pattaya Klang, and just before the turning lane to Pattaya Klang I found a small shop that was displaying some on their wall, and when I asked about them they told me they had plenty for sale - I ended up buying two plates in excellent shape for 500b.

Why not ask a moto taxi guy to get one for you , they seem to be able to get most things , maybe 500 b will do the deal....!

 

 

PS......Don't buy a red one as they are illegal........

There isn't a "Pattaya" number plate as such - the number plates are for the Chonburi province and nothing on the plate is in English. So you could give your friend and plate from anywhere in Thailand and tell him its from Pattaya - unless he reads Thai he will be none the wiser.

Do they do personalised plates in thailand you could have Pattaya1 and make a fortune.
