I recently had the misfortune of buying a TrueMove SIM because they were offering a promotion I liked.

Instead of that attractive promotion I ended up in a web of lies and misinformation.

I will not bore everyone with the details but some high points to substantiate what I am saying:

I was told domestic SMS would be 1 baht a message. I am being charged 3 baht a message.

At one point the SIM stopped working - I went to a nearby office and was told my phone was locked. When I pointed out that I had been using it I got an indifferent look. WHen I put a DTAC SIM inside and called them, I still got no satisfaction.

Even though the SIM was a few days old, they tried to steer me to a more lucrative plan (for them).

Every time I call their Customer Service number I am hit with a 3 baht fee, even if I cannot get through to the correct department.

I am, of course, going to throw the SIM away, but I thought I would vent a little and warn people. I am going to stick with DTAC, which has good customer service - the reps usually answer questions that I may have.

It is registered in my name with my ID. I suppose the chances of any issues from someone else using it are remote, but why take the chance? Besides, I prefer to be petty, and not give TrueMove any business!

Sorry to hear you have had problems with your SIM. I have been using a TrueMove pay-as-you-go SIM, mostly for calls back to Europe, for quite a while with no problem at all.

I’m guessing that this piece of information will be of absolutely no consolation to you.

Yeah that is what my True SIM is for.

I get a shit load of push/advert type messages though from them!

I did notice it had stopped after the phone was turned off for an extended period, but resumed soon after I got back.

Perhaps I should use a different phone, keeping it turned off until I make international calls, rather than my current 2-SIM model.
