Can anyone give me more information on Yensabai Condos? I have read the reviews but heard that the area around there could be unsafe at night.

Any info or help greatly appreciated

Thanks

Dave

Dave, I'm checking in tomorrow night.  Didn't stay there before but have heard that the rooms are decent, but they do vary with decor and upgrades.  I'm told that our rooms are recently renovated.  We'll see.  The price is reasonable.  The best thing about traveling now is that if it doesn't work out there are 1000's of other rooms available.

I heard the reports about the neighborhood, but a scooter taxi gets you to the door for 20 Baht day or night.

My flight gets in at 23:35.  Hoping to make it to Pya by 01:30, find some companions and check it.  I'll let you know how it is when i get to an internet cafe.

I've stayed at the Yensabai Condo twice. Excellent value for the money. I paid 400 per night. I stayed in room 728. Good ac, cable tv, IN ROOM SAFE. Large room with a sitting area. Excellent resturant, White Knight around the corner. Many nights I came back at 2AM and never a problem. There are some gay bar's along the way. I always smiled and said no thank you. Only thing I didn't like during the day your in the sun both ways when you walk to 2nd road. It's a 12 minute walk to Walking Street. I will stay there again. Next trip I'm giving the Queen Victoria Inn on soi 6 a try. I got a cheaper price, 450 versus 500.

In room safe is electronic but owner has master key option. Room and sheets are cleaned once a week. You can have the room serviced more often for an additional fee.

Thanks for the info BigD. I was looking at the possibility of staying there when I eventually make the move - providing i can get a good long term deal on rent.

Tried booking there a couple of days ago over the internet.  The best rate for a seaside view was 650 Baht.  They emailed me back, saying they wanted a credit card number.  Thinking I can get a better deal with a walk up rate and not have to give out my cc number over the internet.  Any feedbacks?  Thanks, SB

I've stayed there a few times in nice and not so nice rooms.  The refurbished ones are pretty good.  I would suggest a room on the pool side rather than seaside.  The ocean is pretty far off so what you really have a view of is of the rooftops of all the buildings about a 1/2 mile from the bay and back to you.  The other side is a large pool view and saves you a few baht, quieter too I think.

My place was cleaned maybe 2 or 3 times a week and laundry service was included but I think I had to drop it off and pick it up.  Also know that you have to provide all your own hotel basics like toilet paper, soap, bottled water and shampoo.  Not a big deal but good to know.

No problems for me walking in the area but you will have the boys making eyes at you on your walk to and from Walking St at night as someone else mentioned.  If you want to know anything else specific let me know.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I received an email last night wanting my credit card no etc and quoting 700 baht a night. I'll probably stay at the Apex again (500 baht) or as an alternative I'm looking at Miss Meneypennies bar

I stayed in RM815 from July 30 - Aug.3

I added my review to the Hotel reviews section.

Getting there can be tough for bathbus/taxi, so, print out the directions from www.pattayarentaroom.com/rent-index.htm.

I walked into Pattaya rent a room office and got 550baht rate for Rm 815.  I asked to see it before I pay and Rudi, the Mgr, agreed.

Rudi, is friendly and showed how the door locks/unlocks, power button must be pushed for AC to work.  Room has a bath tub and curtain.  I don't like the shower with curtain only, water gets everywhere.  How electronic safe works.  Two light dimmer types, really nice.

Overall, I liked the room, but, I prefer more daily room service.  Yet, the price is pretty good if under 600baht.  I would stay here for 6 days or more if I was better prepared.   Also, I did alot of walking and noticed there are alot of rooms for rent/sale in the area.  However, I never did check these rooms personnally.  If more than 600, try Hotel Koenig around the corner, a blue hotel/mansion.

Check out my review for more.

Lots of construction going on now at Yensabaii. Depending on where your room is it may or may not be a problem. All the rooms are different and have been done up by the individual owners. They all seem to be comfortable enough, some may even have UBC.

As far as saftey goes the building itself is safe but the soi leading to it can be questionable for two reasons;

1: getting runover by motorbikes, there are no real sidewalks

2: late at night the gay crowd falling out from gogo's there are usually pretty drunk and can get a bit out of line. I just pay the 20b for a motor taxi and not deal with it.

Cheers, B-Man!
