One of the elevators at VT2A (sorry Gabor) is acting up. In one afternoon:

--A large number of people get on at the first floor but the overweight alarm doesn't come on. Instead the doors close, the elevator tries to move and the floor light goes to F (fail?). The people within reach of the control panel, all farang, just stand there until I say to push the open button. That worked.

--Later a lot of people board the same elevator going down. It gets to the first floor, the F comes on, but the open button does not work. The call button gets a response in 1-2 minutes and two staff guys are opening the doors from the outside. However, the farang men in front are just watching instead of trying to help. The elevator had stopped a few inches below floor level.

I will be avoiding that elevator if I can help it.

Oh, this could get interesting.

I certainly would not want any of those folks in exit row of a flight I was on

If I can I use the side levator.... since they fixed the two main elevators I hear some strange stories... Once happened with me first story... it seems the problem was: no overweight until stand, but when the elevator jerks suddenly it is overweighted....

Sounds very unsafe, unreliable, and untrustworthy.

That is plausible. And no, not a knock on VT2A as opposed to a commentary on the ability of our neighbors to pour piss out of a boot when the instructions are written on the heel.

Nothing to bite...I feel nowadays claustrophobic in the elevators...maybe only my mind...

Under narrow circumstances, I can be claustrophobic. That wasn't really kicking in, but I certainly didn't appreciate the "Gee, what do we do now?" approach of my fellow vertical travelers.
