Higher end hotels have a better mattress. I like a good nights sleep and when I wake up my back doesn't hurt. IMHO, Westin has the best mattress. My wife and I liked it so much. We bought one.

The Westin "Heavenly Bed." I think that's what they call it. I've thought about buying one myself after I move. I stayed at the Westin Hotel at the LAX airport, and the bed was great. You can buy them directly from Westin, or Nordstrom's sells them.

Its pretty difficult trying negotiate a lower price when youre in a room that costs more per night than a Thai workers weekly wage

If you feel a need to negotiate, perhaps before getting to the room would be better?

Indeed so, but your lovely isnt going to think much of you for hammering down her price then she see the highly expensive room?

Many many moons back I awlays stayed in top end hotels then suddenlt realised that, apart from shagging sleeping and showering I wasnt actually using the room.

That was when I became a regular at the Dianna Inn, when there was still a swamp out the back and the boat place next door.
