Good deal on Etihad for April LHR to BKK return

Just seen this deal. I have flown with Etihad a few times in the past and they were OK. Certainly not the worst of airlines IMO. Short stop over in Abu Dhabi

 

Showing at £360 Return at the moment with Lastminute.com. (plus 5 pence)

 

 

Then I realised that it covers Songkran for those dates

 

But it might interest some who like or dont mind Songkran

Just put in the dates for August/September on the Etihad website and its coming up at £399.95

 

Same dates for Thai Airways is £788.75!!!

I dont mind stretching my legs for an hour or so, and they have done a lot of Modernisation at Abu Dhabi. Duty Free cheep as chips. Get a few bottles of water off the plane, as its a rip off at the airport. Has been 7 years since I have flown with them, and they were not bad. Food not great, but when is it ever. I am wondering if we are finally feeling the benefits of cheaper oil ? I paid more for the same flight 7 years ago.

The transit security is a nightmare, at times. You'll be longing for the "organised queues" no matter how long, at Bangkok after experiencing the free-for-all scrum at Abu Dhabi!! BTW they won't let you take water bottles through security. Food is good on Etihad, in 1st and biz it is anyway.

Not too keen on that 0840 departure from BKK.

I have always left at around 8.30pm..... to make Manchester in the morning.

It can be the same for LHR. You get the A380 that way.

If on the A380 then the walk to the terminal is a fairly long one but no more than 10 minutes and it is all very easy. No scrum at all really.

 

You can take water through security. I often have a large 1.5L and a smaller one from the plane and they have never once questioned it or asked me to open my backpack where it is stored.

 

I find the layover fairly easy, though if longer than an hour or so then you will appreciate the lounge if you have access. That said, £360 for a flight to LOS is surely impossible to beat on a quality airline.

Etihad are a good airline, although the extra seat in economy (3-4-3) in common with Emirates on the 777 BKK-AUH leg is not so good; but they are sadly let down by their "hub" airport, even with it's renovations.

Of course though, this thread is really all about the ￡360

Just checked the site for my Aug / Sept visit and booked EVA direct flight for £499..........happy days

 

 

Edit...... The travel agent just rang me back to confirm booking and told me the actual cost is £ 485 ( site not updated )

so now even happier days........
