Thai and EVA announce codeshare

Recommended Posts

Bit of late news and only affects our American cousins so far:

The last few London-Bangkok and Bangkok-London flights I've taken on Thai have all been well supported.. pretty much full capacity in both directions. Would be extraordinary if they shared this route as it's currently popular and therefore profitable. Then again, with huge historic losses, who knows what might happen?

Indeed so. My flight to BKK with Thai in early October on their A380, was near full on both the outbound and inbound.

I've been flying EVA out of San Francisco for well over a decade, flying only Elite class. I've flown various times, during political/medical crises, always the cheapest elite fare and tried all days of the week to find low capacity flights. Every EVA flight I've taken all flight classes have been at capacity or near capacity. I've always wondered if EVA sells standby tickets to fill flights. So I hope they add additional flights to the schedule, if not just means higher prices. Additionally, Thai only flies out of LAX for the entire West coast.

I just bought tickets for three for after the holidays and paid total $3,048.00 US rt EVA Elite, cheapest in a decade.

Hi CalEden

Have you ever been upgraded to Laurel at the check in?, I've read that EVA occasionally bump people up from elite to Laurel, even more of a chance if if they're silver card or better, free of charge.

Hi CalEden

No, Eva does most of their capacity upgrades at the gate just before boarding. They call the passengers names and give them upgraded boarding passes. Most of the upgrades I hear summoned are Chinese. I fly out of San Francisco and the Eva flights are primarily Chinese/Taiwanese. I've retired and now will be flying out of Seattle or Vancouver, BC. We'll see how that goes, I will be flying more frequently too.

Years ago I upgraded via points to Laurel. West Coast flights leave for Asia just after midnight and arrive in Asia one day later. When checking in on this upgraded ticket at the Laurel counter, the counter lady wished me a Happy Birthday, due to midnite departure and day lag time I had forgotten I was flying on my birthday. I responded politely does that mean your going to upgrade me and smiled. She responded I'll try.

At the boarding gate my name was never called. So Happy with Laurel class I boarded. In the boarding ticket scanning process I was informed I was upgraded to First Class and given a new boarding pass. This was when Eva had First class and unfortunately before lay flat seats. I enjoyed it though.
