Thai Airways says to wait  {LAX-BKK}

Recommended Posts

Getting ready for my 25 day trip in Jan 2003, Ive been told by Thai reservations to WAIT till November before buying a ticket.....I got a price of $700 + $57 {tax} and I thought that was a good deal...?   I've NEVER waited that long, does anyone have an opinion on this...? I'm leaving on Jan 24, 2003 ......

Greg_B, Do you just fly Thai Air or is cost more important than the airline? In the S.F. Chronicle's Sunday "Travel" section, many travel offices have ads there. I'm sure it would be the same for the L.A. Times. In the Chronicle there is a travel office (M & K Travel) who have been advertising R.T. SF-BKK-SF for $529, not including taxes. It was on China Airlines, however, which some won't fly due to their safety record. If you haven't already, check out the Times since many of the travel offices work with airlines and oftentimes have good deals. I have no idea why Thai Air wanted you to wait before purchasing your ticket. Good luck!

With taxes you're looking at about more or less the $700.00 range on China Air. I'm flying EVA when I go. It's 4 bux more than Thai,($761.00) but the return flight leaves from BKK at 5:40 PM, wheras Thai leaves at 8:20 a.m. That allows me to party my last Friday night in Pattaya

That is unusal, an airline telling you to wait before booking. They must be putting up the prices in November and would prefer you to buy at the higher price.  :)

Why not spend $885 and fly EVA Air's Evergreen Deluxe?  It's not much more than you're gonna pay right now.  Two roundtrips in Evergreen Deluxe or higher between the US and BKK in 2003 will get you 8 upgrade certificates and "Silver" status.  You can then use your "Silver" card and have access to their airport lounges before your flights.  Along with that, they tag your bags priority so they're some of the first ones out on the conveyor.

You can book or request the cost of airfare from Ann at angeltravel.com or through the EVA Air website.  If you book through the EVA website from now through 31 Dec, you are enrolled in a weekly free ticket giveaway.

echster, Have tried to book online with EVA but never get past the schedule.  When I try to get fares nothing happens.  Can you help walk me through their web site to book online?  Thanks.  When are you going back?  Hope to meet up again and if in Chi town let me know.

 On EVA's website when nothing comes up it usually means the flight is not available for the day you requested. Try entering another date or call to book. They may give you any special internet rate or miles if their site is down. Hope this helps, Cheers, B-Man!

 p.s. as echester suggested the xtra 100-150 is really worth it!

Never had a problem with the booking on EVA's site.  As previously noted, search by clicking the "Price" toggle and go from there.  Other options are to call the EVA ticketing in Los Angeles or my fave, Ann at angeltravel.com.

I'm in St. Louis right now and won't be doing any traveling for a while.
