Which is best Mossie repellent?

Recommended Posts

When I was over LOS earlier this year I got a few mossie bites yet I thought I had protected myself enough, obviously not!

An English guy told me to get a small jar of a smelly stuff called something like 'Goyasuru'

Now I know it's not exactly that name ,but do you know what I mean?

TIA Gus

I get eaten alive as well.

What you should look for is the DEET %.

I used to bring my own stuff from Scandinavia until I realized that every brand works fine as long as you get enough DEET. 15% should be enough.

You can get stuff in Thailand that almost will burn a hole in your jeans. Don't remember but I think they start to mention cancer from 20%...

Walk into Boots or Watson and they will have some great stuff.

If leaving Pattaya, and heading for the "outback" try an intake of a Gin/tonic every 60 minutes to keep the malaria out!

Just talking to a Brazilian lady friend, and she reckons  take Vitamin B for a week before you go to bite area, apparently you give off a smell that stops the mossies wanting to bite.

My stuff smells of lemonbalm,  (Mosiegaurd)  my Thai GF  hates the smell, works on her! I find the roll-on one better- spray seems to waste more than you use.

I read that any repelent just disguises your body aroma, and the little beggers dont know your there, a bit like Arnie covering himself in mud in Predator.  :(

vitamin B is the vitamin that the imune system needs to work properly......i overdose myself on it using Berroca and i have never had any mozzie problems.........i have also fixed horses and dogs that have had "Queensland Itch/ecsma" using vitamin B.

its vitamine b1 i if i remember right i use mosiguard

it stinks but i only use it on my legs thats where they seem to bite.the main ingrideant is lemon grass, so if you eat enough thai food with lemon grass it should help.

A Thai girl I was with last time told me only use mosquito repellant in the daytime as they do not bite you at night. Is this true? ???

Mossies are as active as Thai ladies, you can get stung 24 hours a day, but in my experience, the ladies may not like the smell, and prefer aftershave in the evenings. ;)

The repellent I use is Boots' own brand 'Repel spray'.It  contains 50% deet (whatever that is),comes in a silver can and costs around £6.

Seems to work for me.
