For interests sake I decided on Friday to see how feasible this service was rather than taking the normal limo . There was no problems but from emerging from Arrivals to hotel took 4.5 hours, rather than 2.0 with the limo.

Wait for bus A3 20 minutes (They run every half hour). Only 3 people on this bus - whereas the A1 to Kao San Road left full of backpackers.

1 hour to Eastern Terminal, Sukhumvit Road 1 Hour.

Bus station very busy with many people wanting to travel to Pty - mainly bar girls & economy minded farangs . Needed to wait 40 minutes for bus in heat and humidity guarding my bags.

2.25 hours to Pty.

15 mins to hotel Soi 8 by baht bus. Total 4.5 hours

Total Cost 100 airport bus + 90 Bkk - Pty + 20 for baht bus = total 210 baht

Saving 1500 baht. Not worth it !. spent this amount in no time that evening, but it was nevertheless an interesting experience. I will not do it again. Its just for cheap charlies I think.

Both buses were air-con but not very confortable with plastic seats.

I have taken this route several times both to and from Pattaya, only difference is i stay 1 night in Bangkok at both ends of my trips, so take Airport bus to Nana then following morning skytrain to bus station, round trip will save about 2400 Baht V a limo, im no cheap charlie and enjoy 1 night in Bangkok at each end of a trip, would reccomend to anyone unless you have stacks of luggage, why the rush to Pattaya ?, Bangkok is a good night out, soi cowboy, Nana plaza etc.

For me its all part of the LOS experiance, each to there own.

cheers

Alf

Dave,

For the same cost you could have reduced your travel time well over an hour and maybe 2 if you went to the Mochit terminal. Taxi to the Mochit terminal takes about 10 minutes and cost around 100 baht eliminating the waiting time for the A3 bus and reducing the travel time to Ekamai terminal. Buses also depart there every 30 minutes to Pattaya so depending at what time you arrive at the bus terminal you could wait anywhere from a few minutes to 30.

Anyway, in 18 months if there are no delays, travel from the new airport to Pattaya will be a breeze.
