Hello All. Looking for tips or any bits of info on the Queen Vic. I have previously stayed at the Hard Rock (government paid), the Royal Garden (before the Marriot bought it), and the LEK, on previous trips. I booked a suite through Bert, and I have read nothing but good things about the QV. I will be there from mid June through mid July. Also staying at the Royal Asia Lodge in BKK for 5 days before heading to PTYA. Any comments on either would be appreciated.

hi, p3,

Stayed at the Q.V. last year, July to Aug., 7weeks. Everything was great. Food excellent. I think it is better in the new rooms than the old. Rooms 12 upwards. Thay cost a bit extra but are worth it, good a/c, fan, inroom safe, dvd etc., I paid 550B a day after moving from the RG after i knackered my knee, the so called big bed parted, 2 small beds pushed together.

Cheers Doug.

Hi p3,

Just noticed you asked about R.A.L. in Bangkok. Stayed there for the past 3 years, it a bit down Soi 8 on the left hand side but they have a free Tuk-Tuk service with a free phone just of Suk. road. I've always walked back. The hotel is quiet and the staff great, they ask for ID from your TG and when she leaves by herself will ring your room to see if things are OK. I had them call me a in room mas. and was very pleased. Rooms are a bit old but mini-bar, lighting and bath/shower are great. Last year i paid 900B.

Cheers Doug.

P3,

I stayed one night at the Queen Vic, Room #1 on February 25, checked out after 3 hours. The bed was horrible. Old, springs poking through, very uncomfortable. They didn't have any other rooms available to move me to at the time so I can't comment on whether or not they have nicer and newer beds. The staff are great.

I stayed there twice last year and liked it both times. Great food, great staff and clean hotel, they don't do ID checks. They do have an inroom safe and you have to sign for the key at the bar which is also where you check in.

After 2am you have to use the back door on soi 6/1, be careful closing the door it slams if you don't hold the handle when closing it. Have fun.

cheers

kj

Penthouse Flat is the biggest room, it has a balcony,DVD player, big bathroom, in room safe and a fan above the bed {king sized bed}. The place is very clean and the food is great. Bert also has safety deposit boxes at the bar and a pickup service for those in need of a ride to Pattaya {1,500 Baht}.

The AC worked great and I never had any problems. The owner {Bert} is really hands on and will take good care of you..

Sounds good Doug. I'll take you up on that, and return the favor. I'll be in PTTY from June 23 through July 14. Although I only have a room at the QV until the 8th. I haven't booked a hotel for the last week I am there yet. I might try the Sandy Springs or RG as I have seen a lot of good reports on this board. See you in the bar, -Mac
