JML, there are tons of excellant restaurants here. I suggest you ask him where he would like to go. I am sure he knows by now all the good ones. And it will guarantee a good experience for you and your guy also. The seafood here is outstanding!

Hi, If you want a traditional Thai meal with Thai entertainment then Ruen Thai is very reasonable on second road. If It's European food you're after and you don't mind paying a few quid then try Bruno's in Jomtien or Alchemy restaurant in Nova Park near Soi A & R.

Hi JML,

How about bringing Granddad out some English Tea bags, a jar of Marmite and some Cadbury’s chocolate.

That’s what I look forward to when friends are visiting. : 1luv

Also lots of nice cheap markets selling just about everything.

Last time my daughter was here she had to buy another case to get all the clothes and shoes she bought home.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the prices.

Mike.

Is there any place you'd think i shouldn't go to??

Thank you for your help though.

jml,

I haven't been to the elephant village, but once your in Pattaya go to one of the numerous travel agencies and they will take care of you. Besides the elephant village you might be interested in visiting Nong Nooch tropical gardens, the Million Year Stone Park and Crocodile farm, and the Sirach Tiger Zoo.

jml,

I visited the Elephant sanctuary (is that how you spell sanctuary?) on my first trip to Pattaya in Feb. It was good and I got some photo's I could show back home! <grin

I have written elsewhere about the humidity. I couldn't believe how different it was in June as opposed to Feb. I like doing touristy type things during the day and I found that the current high humidity hard to cope with. It definately stopped me from visiting a number of intended daytime activities <grin

Go shopping at Royal Garden Mall and Mike Shopping Mall, go to Nong Nuch Garden. While you do this tell your boyfriend to go to soi 6 and you will meet up with him after for drinks and dinner.

Been to the Tiger Zoo a couple of times, usual cost about 500 Bht if you want to include lunch or dinner (recommended) they usually can arrange to collect you from your hotel for either a morning or afternoon trip. Takes about 30 - 40 minutes by taxi and the driver guides you round the Zoo. You get chance to hold tiger cubs and both my kids and GF loved it. They also have an Elephant show, Crocodile show and a monkey show. We thoroughly enjoyed it then came back to relax by pool in the afternoon. The Thai people, in general, will make your first trip one that you will always remember B)

Seriously, thats one thing i've always wanted to do is hold a tiger cub, oh well im starting to get really excited about this holiday now.

I know one thing i'm going to love this holiday move than any other ones.

ps whats the food like at the tiger zoo?

If I remember rightly it was sweet and sour chicken and noodles and another non spicey dish, table service but no choice of menu. Most people I spoke to said the food was exceptional, given the price, and I would tend to agree with them.

I'm scared but excited is that norm.

jmlbabe,

that describes the fitting attitude before your 1st trip to Thailand pretty accurately - go with your eyes open and you'll love it. :nod Honest. :D

For something scary (it was for me, at least) try visiting the snake farm...

It can be combined with the visit to 'the Zoo'. :nod

Enjoy... :D

Hello JML, A few more days and you will be in Thailand. I am envious!! There are many touristy things to see and to do in Pattaya. Seeing the tigers is a great thing to do. If you can, bring a camera with a zoom because you will get some awesome pictures of the animals. I recommend visiting the Sanctuary of Truth. It is a large Temple made of carved wood and they also have two ponds with dolphins in them ..where you can feed them and see the shows that they put on. That place is maybe 15 minutes away from Pattaya and a hired baht bus might cost you about 100 baht each way. Pattaya has a waterpark and some go-cart tracks...they are a blast. Another thing that is very entertaining is the Ladyboy shows. They put on a very great show and they are deceptive good at imitating women. Hope you have a good time. Please tell us about your trip when you get back. PatFan

Hi. JML. If you want to do something "different" you might like to visit the Pattaya Orphanage-

http://www.pattayaorphanage.org.uk/site/news.html

It will cost you about 60 Baht (less than a quid) each way for a taxi. All very informal, and both the staff and the kids are very welcoming and friendly. Take some sweets and toys (lots of small ones, so no one gets left out) and I promise you it will be a very worthwhile, moving experience. Please feel free to PM me if you want any more info. Have a great trip.
