Hi,

Coming over in September for 3 weeks, and a friend of mine recommended the above hotel.

It is on 2nd road and Soi Dianna, looks OK with a pool and cheap rate. They also say joiners are welcome.

Just wondering if any other members have stayed at this place before.

Cheers,

Kev

I stayed there for 30 days in 2001. They ripped me off big time on both the phone and electricity about B15000. No in room safes. Also had a freelancer rip me off for some really stupid shit in my room, nothing worth much but she had to carry it right past security, they would have had to see it and just let her keep on going. I would pass on the place!

Kev,

Haven't stayed there, but have been by there many times. There are many budget hotels in this general area of Soi Dianna, Soi Honey and Soi Buakaow. Within this area, the hotels run between 300-500 a night depending on the length of stay. If you do decide to stay there, only commit for a day or two so you can check out the competition. At that time of the year and for your length of stay you should be able to find something at a reasonable rate. What has Dianna quoted you and how much are you willing to spend.

Thanks for the info mate, I will take note.

Anyone else got any ideas, bit quiet on this one?

Kev

If it's in your budget the rooms aren't really too bad at all. Suites have 2 tv's etc.....Just saying be very careful and try and negotiate your phone and electricity in advance. They only pay like B4 per K hour and just raped me on the surchareges....both phone and electricity! Also do not trust security...even though they take ID's the guards are to lazy to check them on the way out or they will take a bribe from the lady leaving to get past them. Also many "freelancers" will carry phony ID's if they plan on ripping you off. I had a large boom box stolen...no real loss as I planned on giving it to a TG anyway when leaving, just pissed me off that the gal just "strolled" past security!

You can buy bottled water cheap next door...across the street are several really good laundry's also.

2 pools are in good shape with very little useage and they are "lady" friendly!

It is off the beaten path for the baht busses, but easy enough to figure out. When leaving take the busses going left....when returning you have to go to 2nd road across from the police box up from walking street, or pay the mafia jerks.

All in all the place would be ok for a 3 week stay as long as you are aware of the above.

Have fun!

Are you sure you're talking about the Diana Inn

The Diana Inn is on 2nd road across from Mikes Department Store right next to the Apex on the baht bus route

Only 1 pool last time I stayed there about 18 months ago and no security guards that I have seen never heard of any suites there either ??

I used to always stay there from about 1996-1999 it was great value then but moved on as it was going downhill

I tried it again about 18 months ago when I had a problem at the Areca Lodge

It was pretty crap Rooms worn pool dirty staff not so friendly as before

Much better hotels now in the same area for same or slightly more baht

Only good thing now is the Green Bottle Pub which is part of the hotel and has always been a favourite of mine as an oasis from the Pattaya madness with good food and booze and live band Nice place to take TG good value Farang and Thai food

I dont recommend this hotel any more any more

They also have the condo's on 3rd road right across the street from the huge beer bar complex. This is the one that I stayed at for 30 days. They are mostly privately owned condo's I think. Diana Inn manages them, thats how they got me on the phone and elec surcharges. The ones on 3rd raod have 2-3 buildings, 2 pools and great parking if you have a car or moto. Its calledn "Diana Estates"

carcareers,

The Dianna Estates that I'm aware of is located off of Soi Buakaow, just north of Soi Honey and not 3rd Rd.

Emil

Yeah thats it......was there in 2001! LOL, 3 years and many beers later....brain damage and the blues have taken over.

Boys,

Thanks for all the reviews.

Basically they quoted me 750 bahts per night for a Deluxe Pool Wing Room (including buffet breakfast), plus 600 baht drink voucher. They want a deopsit of 2K before I go but screw that I'm not going to fax my credit card number to someone in Pattaya, (me silly not stupid).

Last time I stayed back in 2001 I stayed at the Dianna Dragon which was pretty dumpy, thought I might go a bit more up market this time. If you have any other suggestions great, but do like the like of a pool.

Cheers,

Kev

I had the same request for holding deposit, and DID fax them, with absolutely no problems regarding my credit card details.

The deluxe rooms are large but pretty "tired" and the aircon worked, but was very noisy.

Pool was OK.

Joiners are welcome, ID required, but they do not get breakfast, you have to pay for them if you manage to get to the very ordinary buffet in the morning.

Kev,

750 seems high for a 3 week stay for that time of the year unless your getting a very nice room. I don't care for the free buffet incentives unless I know for sure that its something that I would enjoy and would still be available if I sleep in.

Just down the street is Baybreeze hotel, I stay there on every trip. They are run by very nice people. Its only 500bt a night and they have an in room safe.

The maids are very trustworthy and my room was always very clean.

Its very close to everything for me, made in thailand market, kiss food and drink, soi 9 & 8 & 7.

Thanks Ting Tong,

Not sure why not to book from thw website but I get into BKK at about 10 at night so will not get to Pattaya till about 1 in the morning, don't want to wander looking for a hotel if they are full at that time of the night. SO they had better be spot on if I make a reservation.

Cheers,

Kev

Kev..

I stay at the Queen Victoria Inn for 750 Baht/night and do have the use of the pool at the Hard Rock Cafe. DVD player, balcony, King size bed, ceiling fan , A/C and a very nice room. Owner is English {Bert}and he will do everything to make your visit a good one. Place has a great Pub and food. No deposit required for a reservation.

Same street as the Soi 6 BJ bars, so it's kinda nice...
