Adding a Picture to my Profile

I would like to add a pic to my profile. But when I try it is asking for a url to upload from. I would like to add one from my own files. How am I able to do this.

Its been awhile since I have done this, but let me give it a try.

 

First after logging in, go to the top of the page and click on My Controls. When this opens up scroll down to Personal Profile then click on Edit Avatar Settings. Next scroll down to Upload a new image. Your stored pictures on your harddrive should open. Double click on your selected image and your should have it uploaded. The information on the file size and actual size of the avatar is also shown. If the file is too large you may have to upload it to your Gallary to reduce it, or reduce the file size with any photo edit software. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Leo. It did not like the one I selected. It is only 40k but looks like it must be too large. Will have to find something else. But thanks for the advice

Well was not able to get the one I wanted but it will do for now.

Have a question though. I was restricted to a less than 20kb file and I have checked out some of the file sizes on other peoples profiles and they are of 100kb. So what is the go there?

This is covered in the Frequently Asked Question section at the top of the forums - How to upload pics.

 

The 20k restriction is what you can upload using the built in uploader. If you upload the pic to your own or some other websoace then there is no restriction, however an Avatar should be small in size anyway as it is only 140x100 pixels. Although the forum will reduce a larger photo to fit, it is much better and much more efficient if you resize the pic before uploading.
