I've flown China Airlines, United, JAL, Singapore, and Cathay biz class to HKG and back many times (China only once) - China Airlines biz class is inferior by a mile. There is a reason why that ticket is about 1/2 price of what the others charge. Although I did not sit in coach I did stroll around it. The food, the plane quality, the seats, and the cleanliness are donkey nuts compared to the others... IMHO. You can get a 5 day China visa upon landing in SheKou Port, costs 100HKD ($12.50US). IMPORTANT: The SheKou visa window closes at 1800 (1730 Chinese time There are other visas you can get at any Chinese Consulate before departure. If memory serves me right, a 30 day single entry is $40US. You will need 2 passport photos for the visa, although they only take 1 of them Chinese logic. Don't let the stamp thing throw you off, man. SheKou is an area within the city of ShenZhen, China (pop.6mil.). Yes, Singapore Air should be up there. I have flown almost everything and SQ is tops when it comes to cattle class The flight attendants are the sexiest in the world - no contest. Cathay is a close second for the Pacific routes, followed by JAL , IMHO. Another really good one is LAN Chile. The friendliest service in the air, but they mostly fly in the Americas.
