They use a different exchange table when you do a transfer, which is much lower. It comes out to about a 3% fee to do a free transfer.

I've been staying at Keerati Homestay on LK Metro this trip and love it. 1100 baht for a huge room with kitchen. Their site has silly prices so call them. They have a sign with a 750 baht/night special you may want to ask about. You get full access to the LK Metropole pool, gym, & sauna.

I've always thought it has more to do with control than any religious "belief".

I have used them many times as well, but their pricing has almost doubled compared to what it was a couple of years ago. I used them mostly HKG to BKK and they are actually priced higher than other, full-service, airlines most of the time now. Too bad, they have some hotties.

With 2 Tour stage victories in 6 years I just don't see it happening for Evans. Contador has taken too many falls and has nothing left. The Schlecks will turn schlecht and choke as usual. Beach Road hires are 2000-2500 Baht for the ride to Koh Larn, then 800-1000 Baht per hour for getting dragged behind the boat. They normally put you in a friend's boat with a smaller motor to save gas. The 8000 Baht trips normally include water sports, drinks and BBQ. It is not 8K flat as they ask for another 800-1000 Baht per person. As with most things in Thailand, try to negotiate. Link to one operator

You have to get your bags and go through customs but it is a good way to kill a bit of the 4 hour layover. You'll never wait more than 5 mins to go through HKG customs.

I used Singapore Air all the way to BKK only once - it sucks. Since then, if flying Sing Air, I switch to Air Asia in HKG, works out to about the same price, but much better arrival time.
