mmm .. well , now of all the lessons i'd thought of taking in patts cooking was not one of them .. but ... mm ... i'll get the mrs to give you a freebie (cooking lesson) after we pick you up from the airport . the theory being , you get to know her, and she feels guilty about complaining that i'm out every night with you and LTC she is a very good thai cook though .. so if you really want lessons i'm sure she ill oblige. save the baht for other activities

re-read the thread. its not a question of trust.. that was not part of the original question. however she know no one on the forums. BM's or wives of so no problems there. in fact she knows no one who works in a bar , we live 15km+ outside of patts btw
-
having read your post & your site i must say you seem to have a real downer on this guy due to his weight . as you said he only ate a medium pizza at the airport.. so i assume at least he was trying to diet !. but most certianly this is a good reason for BM's to be wary of there postings in case they reveal who they are. how long i wonder before it becomes an offence just to be a BM.

the accounts that are filed do show buisness i think .. they have to show apprecaition in the land price and as such a gain in capital. therefore tax is paid. i think some ppl do it and pay zero tax , these are most certailnly risky average price is 15,000 baht per year to do the accounts and have them audited , there are much cheaper avenues however what corners they cut i do not know

farangs cannot own houses as such nor can they own land as such however you can have your own company which in turn owns the land and the house. this is how its done if you do not want to put it into a thai persons names eg. your tilak not a new method, its been around for ages and used to be the same in bulgaria even. the only question is how many percent of the company to have in your own name, some say 39% others say 49%. either way its as safe as any method of owning anything in thailand also most people who own a house/land in thailand don't have a trading company that owns it. ie its a shell company paying minimal tax etc. common practice though, you can read about is on most property sites. lordflash, or skygod may wish to add to this as they are also in this "trade"

And some ppl ffel that if you buy a TG a drink they should at least sit there for a few mins to see if your interested. although though sometime i have bought a drink under pressure and been very happy when they say they had to dance as it gave me time to run away from the dawg

Heres a mish mash of Q's for fellow expats. Potatoes, i invested in a chip fat fryer from carrefour the other day, hoping to make m own french fries (chips). they always taste nicer when made from real potatoes rather than those thin precut frozen things. but all the spuds i've bought so far in pattaya are soooooo sweet !! tastes like they feed them on suger . can we buy real potatoes , king edwards or other good chiiping spuds locally that are not sweet and where from. Grass seed, have leveled out my garden with a 10m3 delivery of top soil. as it has sunk in places a little after construction. before i have it re-turfed i wated to give a good sprinkiling of quality grass see to go under the turf. anyone know where bags of grass seed can be purchased ,i've treid hte local garden shops to no avail Newspapers, a few months ago while i was surfing the net found a free site that had scanned copied of international newspaers on, the sun, mail on sunday,so stickey falang could dowload and print or read them. etc etc. can't find it now. anyone know the site ? (the free one)

if its not mine .. oh the horror.. what do you know that i don;t, are you papa !! when did you screw her well if it was not to be mine .. which as i've said i'm sure it is , i do live here , so its not a case of i've been out of LOS for a long time. and on the ocaasions i do go back to home country she goes up country to mama then its simple. pack a few bags for her and and take her back to mama. then i'd come back to patts with my head held high and party party party. serisously tho. dads also get attached to kids. not as quick as mother though. if i was to find out it was not mine, then better to find out while there is no emotional link between myself and the sprog. ie now.
-
no i don't think she was cheating, I just think for peace of mind its easier to do now than later. and i don't intend to ask her to prove anything . i intend to just have the test done for my own knowledge without her knowing. it does not require any of the mothers dna for the test
-
something i'd never dream of in the UK, but we are in thailand and in reality we're never 100% sure of these ladies we love so much where can a get a paternity DNA test on the cheap done in patts ? i've asked at pattaya int hospital and they say bangkok for 25,000 baht !! i'm sure the little bugger is mine, if only from the fact he's got a pick (not brown , lol) willy but as they say, better safe than sorry. and the test result could also prove usefull later if UK citizenship is wanted(not needed 'm told but everything helps with the dickheads at the embassy)

i uese to use mr toom every time, 1st time i used him i could not find his driver at the airport. the answer is simple to avoid no-shows of the driver. take mr tooms phone number with you !! remember there is a poor guy at the airport arrivals, holding a board with your name on . if for a breif moment he rests his arm, goes to the toilet, or anything you can miss him. he has no idea how long the immigration que is, sometimes its 1 hour, sometimes there is no que at all .. so keep the number, phone him or sms him when you get off the plane. and if in doubt about the driver or the car then you can just call him. even from an airport payphone of need be ! all the times i used him he was great . i even used him from patts->bkk and had the driver going around condo's to rent with me for hours until i found one. only cost a little more.. i was (dig digg) disapointed a few weeks ago though when i asked him for a price , airport -> sakaoe. 220kms apprx, and he wanted 3000baht + another 500 to the village from the town. cheap by falang standards but more than the cost of a normal bkk cab.

will try and make it down if i'm not to tired from watching my 2 workmen move 10m3 of topsoil around my garden. (300baht per day, cost me more to buy my own spade & barrow!) you need to promote more where the new place is adam. i at 1st thought u had a new bar called "hammer bar" lol i asked around and was told your new place was still on soi 8 but they were not sure where. then i saw a post of yours saying it was cherry bar too .. and laid back off beach road. must admit in 2 years i've not been to those laid back from the beach rd bars.. but will try and find you later. must go and have a nap. they just walked past the window agian with a wheelbarrow full of soil .. yawwwwnnnn

i have citical illness cover for mine at 1100 per month from siam commercial bank. returns 10% of premeims paid every 3 years i think as well. payouts are prety low i think though . they all have there own health card for free treatment at the hospital that near there home (as per tabien bahn). and tbh i've found they get sick much less if they know it means running back to the village for treatment, no joke !! in the 1st 12 months i was with tilak it cost me over 25k baht att bangkok pattaya with stupid things, one i dug in and drove her to the village (3 hour drive) she's not been sick even once more.. even had a baby in the village hospital a few weeks ago, but i think i may of prefered to pay the price in pattaya than being stuck upcounty a for those 2 weeks !!

i'm gold with both thai and emirates. never had a free upgrade. exchanged thai miles for free nights at the dusit & shereton and 2 return trips to los give nearly enough miles to do a business class upgrade for the 3rd (at gold level as you earn bonus miles) only other perks i'm noticed are sometimes you get on the plane faster as they call 1st class and gold 1st. you get priority checkin, but no quicker than online checkin. and emirates keep making me look like a vip in economy by repeatedly asking me if all is well and calling me by name. the guy next door to me thought i had comlained about something as they asked so many times haha dont appear to be discounts as such on flights with gold which would realy be a nice perk no experiance with eva though

might be worth waiting to change it !! Baht to become more volatile in this year source: Bkk Post May 19 2008 Imports expected to weaken unit in 2008 Businesses will experience a more volatile baht in 2008 as high imports have caused it to weaken, but inflows could pick up later in the year. This is a different scenario from 2007, when the baht mostly strengthened throughout the year, according to analysts. The baht has gained ground since the beginning of the year from 33.6 to 31.5 to a dollar at the end of April, and it started to weaken in early May to 32.25 last Friday. Frederick Neumann, HSBC's regional foreign-exchange strategist, said the baht was expected to weaken continuously for many months as investors were selling off regional currencies in light of a short-term rebound in the dollar. Increasing imports over the past few months have begun to narrow Thailand's trade deficit and increase downward pressure on the baht, he said. The economy ran a $109-million trade deficit caused by $41.49 billion in imports and $41.38 billion in exports in April. A lower trade surplus this year is likely given high oil prices. ''Regional currencies and the baht have been sold off. But the baht has underperformed other currencies such as the Philippine peso and Indonesian rupiah last week. We expect the baht to depreciate much more,'' Mr Neumann said. However, the current account surplus due to strong tourism will prop up the baht. Meanwhile, the Bank of Thailand will probably increase its policy benchmark interest rate from 3.25% by 50 basis points this year to increase capital inflows now that the benchmark US Federal funds rate stands at 2%. ''Toward the end of the year, the baht should be slightly stronger than this. The BoT is expected to raise interest rates because inflation is very high. Historically, a high interest rate in Thailand will bring more capital inflows,'' he said. ''We expect the dollar to continue to appreciate and the baht and currencies in the rest of the region to depreciate. Our existing forecast of 29.50 baht to a dollar for the end of the year is somewhat too aggressive.'' Nattawut Sachabudhawong, Siam Commercial Bank's senior financial economist, said the baht was now more susceptible to volatility in the event of major transactions as existing buying and selling demand were on par. In any case, the baht should weaken over the next few months and could rebound later in the year because of service income, foreign portfolio inflows and foreign direct investment. ''There is a high chance for the baht to be more volatile over the next few months because the market's flow is currently quite neutral. We have recommended our clients to increase hedges,'' Mr Nattawut said. The baht could weaken shortly because importers' dollar purchases typically increase in the second and third quarters, during which exports usually slow down. But healthy inflows and and a stronger Chinese yuan will support the baht. Mr Nattawut said SCB forecast the baht to stand at 31 to a dollar at the end of the last year, on par with the year's record low seen last March. The Bank of Thailand, meanwhile, could be cautious in raising interest rates, despite inflation concerns, because domestic consumption and private investment remain fragile. Domestic consumption is quite worrisome because wages increases were not keeping pace with inflation, he said. Usara Wilaipich, senior economist with Standard Chartered Bank, said that investors reduced long positions on regional currencies after a rebound in sentiment of the dollar, which caused regional currencies to weaken. ''We expected the baht depreciation to gain momentum. One reason was that exporters had sold dollar contracts since the beginning of the year and it was outstripped by importer demand for dollars,'' she said. The chance of the baht reaching 33 to a dollar over the next two to three months is fairly high, she believes.

where would one find a money changer who would give a good rate for £50,000 and are they in offices, or a back just don't want to get mugged lol i was told the once back when it was 69.5/£ that there was a gold shop paying 71/£ i did not go as i was worried about forged thai money and safety, and also the legality of not using a side street changer
