Thanks Nightrider, i will be getting a single entry 60 day tourist visa this time and extending for a further 30 days, only had Entry stamps before for 30 days but only used 28 days/4weeks to stay within the entry stamp, maybe this is why i had 28 in my head??? Its ok to book 12 weeks and put length of stay as 12 weeks on the tourist visa application form? -

Hope you dont take it as me having a go at ya thaidave cos im not, my mistake on your 30 day being a month (say 6th one month to 6th next month), just i have always worked with 28days as a month when booking hotels in thailand...my mistake on your pricing so sorry about that. I noticed one place on LK metro that has gone for 8 months of high season - 15th september to 14th May. I am coming to thailand on a tourist visa this time so may take your 30 day thing, i have only had 1 month(28day) entry stamps before and always had a one month discount at places so your 30 day threw me. So i guess its just people with tourist visas who get the monthly discount and not entry stamp people? -

newbie34 replied to james_clarke's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I have never paid water and electricity in a guest house, i have in a condo and i understand some people leave the A/C on when not in room which is a waste and an added cost to you and people who do this aint being fair to you. So room 5a in high season is a daily of 600 baht...@ 28 days is 16800 baht but your giving 300baht discount on a month stay which is 16500baht...or 11baht a day discount off the 600baht a day so with electric and water for a month its 17000/17200 how much is the water per month? it works out cheaper to pay 600 a day with "all included water and electric" than it does to go for the monthly discount???? 600baht a day for 28 night all bills included no discount = 16800 or one month with discount 16500 + water / electric is 17000/17200?? Thants not a discount thats an increase in price when you go for the monthly discount...paying 200/400 baht more than you would if you just paid the 600 a day.....is there more to pay with water than the 500/700 electric??? -

newbie34 replied to james_clarke's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hi Thaidave, on your site it says there is also a charge of 7baht per unit of electricity and 250 baht for water with meters outside rooms, how much on average is the electricity and water bill on top of the rates of 500baht and 600baht rooms. I haven`t had to pay water and electric in any guest house i have stayed at before. whats the day rate with water and electric? Im asking because im looking for a room for one month or maybe more from the 12th december -
LK Metro - Metro-Apartments
newbie34 replied to newbie34's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Same room i stayed in, i agree about the view over the soi, some fine sights My friend had the room directly below...room 6, same kind of room with same balcony at the front overlooking the soi -
I just got back from a 1 month stay om Soi LK Metro, stayed at http://www.metro-apartments-pattaya.com/ , had a great time 8th trip, i had the large room on the 3rd floor/top floor facing Soi Lk, my friend had the room below, also large room facing the Soi. The room`s were spotless clean, Safe in room, Aircon worked a treat, i didnt have the aircon on all the time, i would fall back on the ceiling fan when the room had cooled. Had the usual cable tv which had some alright movies, the WI-FI worked well in room. Had a large balcony which was nice to sit out and have a smoke on and relax with a couple of beers from the fridge. Also had coffee making stuff and that is a must for me in the morning after a rough night on the booze!! (i say morning but usually got up pm) Shower was the walk-in kind which i prefer over the bath with a shower in it that you find in some place`s, also very clean. Dennis the owner is a great guy, friendly and good to have a drink with, he cartainly like`s a few...but dont we all :) All in all i had a great time, the staff were friendly but not pushy for the drinks (the bar is aircon, though i did enjoy sitting outside on the comfy seats). Plenty of bars in the area, i found it no problem to get anywhere around pattaya from Soi Lk and i would highly recomend the place. newbie34/phil

do you like the new format?
newbie34 replied to pattaya_mad's topic in Technical problems or questions.
People kicked off with that facebook shite when it had a new look, i bet more users than ever use facebook now. A few are saying "is this another forum addicts ect", its not the look of a forum that makes a forum what it is, its the users and how the board is adminstered. Give it time. -
I like the new board, im sure Martin wouldnt just go grab a board for the sake of grabbing a new board. Give it time for tweeks of colour scheme and functions. Nice and quick loading for me

any dentists in the lk metro area
newbie34 replied to biglinds39's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54917 a good few topics come up in the search for dentist -
I have stayed at the Queen Vic and as stated above Vic the owner is a nice bloke and always asking is everything ok and is there anything he can do to help. 2 entrances, one on Soi 6 and one on Soi 6/1, the 6/1 is the quiet entrance and how you get in late late night. There is no lift in the Vic, it is only 3/4 floors, i didnt find the stairs a problem (i was on the top floor), though i have heard people not much into them on here over the yrs, but dont let the stairs put you off unless you have ill health or bad legs....i never had a problem with them myself. At one end of Soi 6 you have beach road which is a one way that goes down to walking street, baht bus`s a plenty, the other end pf Soi 6 is 2nd road which is also a one way with plenty of baht bus`s and goes the opposit direction to beach road, so you can get to pretty much anywhere easily, just one big loop. There are bars all over the place, i mean they are everywhere and Soi 6 for me is an every now and then place to go. Sabai Inn on Soi 2 may also be a place to look at, its not far off the price range of the Vic, has a lift so no flights of stairs to climb, same deal with Baht bus route and a more mellow street to stay. http://www.sabaiinn.com/ Im sure others here can add to the list of places to stay. For flights....myself i will fly with whoever is the cheapest, i flew FinAir one time, it was only £380 a few yrs ago, crap plane, but the stop overs were only a few hours. too me its just a tube of metal with a seat that fly`s, saying that the stop-over time is more important...8hrs waiting for the next flight at the 1/2 way stage is shitty, so try and get the 2/3 hour stopover at the 1/2 way point. Just had a look at these 2 sites http://www.worldwideflights.com/ http://www.netflights.com/ The cheapest for your dates was worldwide flights, £9 cheaper, both sites showed "Qatar" as the cheapest, with only a 2/3hour stop-over which is good. I have flown with them before and a good airline, though Doha airport was not much of an airport when i was there last, who cares its only a stop over, brew/smoke stop/ stretch your legs. As you said your having a good read of stuff and i would suggest doing that to anyone who has never been, tons of info here with trip reports ect to give you an idea of things. You and your mate will have a great time and then some...keep up the reading
