Looking for good Hospital for Treating a Brain Tumar,I have found 2
Dr Mick replied to Dr Mick's topic in Expat Issues
I have talk to may x pats who do not have medical insurance after all the issues what has happen to me and seen happening to my friend ,it is a must a good medical insurance if you in LOS. I was talking to a french man yesterday who says he is ok as he has insurance in France and would go home if serious ill ,then I point out to him if he was serious il he may be admitted to hospital in Thailand and then could not fly home and find out then he has trouble with having his insurance in France. I am finding lots of xpats take a big gamble hoping not to get ill ,then when they are 60 year old good insurance companies will not insure them -
Looking for good Hospital for Treating a Brain Tumar,I have found 2

This would be Srinagarind Hospital a teaching hospital ,I am sure the DR are very good as many are also working odd days as consultants at the Khon Kaen Ram Private hospital. At the moment he is in Khon Kaen Ratchaphruek Hospital ,which has a bad name here ,I have been told if wife agrees will move to Srinagarind for operation and after few days move back to Ratchaphruek ,this is all due to issue with his insurance and other hospitals do not accept his insurance as being good enough .So moving him to BKK is out for sure. -

Yes I agree what you say ,like mine is covered for all hospitals in Thailand as I bought mine in Thailand. Talked to my friend last night ,he is not well at all ,his German mate is trying to help him ,but his insurance is bought in Germany and finding it hard to sort out how much he is insured for ,so at moment just waiting in a hospital bed whilst this is sorted ,a terrible situation as I think he needs operation as soon as possible, what making it worst is his thai wife who finished with him a few months ago have come from Germany to see him now he is ill.It looks like to me that she not want him to have operation and there just to take care of his credit cards ,I may be wrong ,lets hope so. But I have been told because they are still married ,my friend mind seems so confussed, now the wife is the only person who can sign for operation for him ,if thats the case I feel so sorry for him as I think she will not sign. -

Bumrungrad think this is the place i would use if I am serios ill or need operation in future.I will see if my friend insurance is ok for this hospital Last week i was in BKK Pattaya Hospital ,was was impressed with them ,seemed to find what virus i had very quick ,good quick treatment to bring my temp down. I must addmit did not see much of the DRs but the nursing staff was great ,also my insurance was sorted out all for me . The total cost was 30000 bhts ,30 hours in hospital ,. I think the boys in the labs do a very good job checking on blood ,ect, ect ,very quick results ,sure would have had to waite lot longer in the uk -
I have just be told a friend I know here in Khon Kaen may have a brain tumar I know the hospital he is in here in khon kaen ,I would never use this hospital for any treatment as i have read bad reports. I am going to see my friend tomorrow ,hope he remembers me as i have been told he has now lost his memory due to the tumar. I do know he has no tai lady to look after him as his x wife live in Germany ,he may have a german friend looking after him ,but unsure. I am hoping he has good insurance ,if he has i would like to see him transfered to a better hospital I am thinking of the Bangkok hospital ,either in BBK or Pattaya But have read this is also a great hospital in BBK Bumrungrad http://en.wikipedia....tional_Hospital In what I know and read I would have no problem trusting the service and doctors of these hospital If I was serious ill i would use one of them ,but good insurance is needed for sure as can be 8000 bhts night just for a single room. Do any body know or have experiance of these and which would you think is the best ,money may not be a issue ,so looking at quality of care rather than costs. Thanks for any help and hope I can also help my friend out if he needs it

Ron are you sure its Dengue as at first hospital thought i had this before finding out it was a bad fu virus I have just read this ,wonder if it is here now??? ‘Highly toxic’ bird flu in Vietnam Posted on September 8, 2012 A new highly-toxic strain of the potentially deadly bird flu virus has appeared in Vietnam and is spreading fast, according to state media reports
-
THIS IS THE STRAIN OF FLU WHICH Pattaya BKK Hospital said i had ,all I can say it makes you feel very ill with very high temp ,non stop couphing ,sore thoat ,all bones hurt. Think I caught in Pattaya but not sure ,but if ytou have high temp have it checked out. Also doctor told me i should now get a flu injection every year ,after this illness i will sure look into this ,I just wonder does any other BM have a flu injection. Below it said this flu virus died down in 2010 ,so it may be coming back again ,so be aware. The good news after great treatment at Pattaya BBK hospital feel very good now . 30 Hours in hospital cost 30000 bhts so thats 1000 bhts hour ,money well spent Swine influenza or swine flu (H1N1 strain) is a respiratory disease of pigs. The swine flu viruses do not usually infect humans, but rare human infections have occurred. It became pandemic in 2009 before it died down in 2010 The flu pandemic of 1918 killed 40 million people. We are due for [another] one now,” he said, adding that a contagion is possible, just like in the Hollywood movie of the same name. “The bats carried the virus in the movie, and in the Ebola virus in Africa it was the bats again,” he said. To better understand the two kinds of flu viruses – avian and swine, that created a global scare, he explained each one. Avian influenza or bird flu infection (H5N1 strain) in humans results from contact with infected poultry like domesticated chicken, ducks, geese, and turkeys or surfaces contaminated with secretion/excretions from infected birds. Since December 2003, many outbreaks of bird flu have led to the culling poultry in countries across Europe, Asia and Africa. The spread from avian flu from one infected person to another is rare. However avian influenza is contagious among birds. The World Health Organisation (WHO) confirmed 583 cases of H5N1 in humans in Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Djibouti, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Laos, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. Swine influenza or swine flu (H1N1 strain) is a respiratory disease of pigs. The swine flu viruses do not usually infect humans, but rare human infections have occurred. It became pandemic in 2009 before it died down in 2010. During the last century, flu pandemics were reported in 1918, 1957 and 1968, when millions of people died across the world. “Avian flu has a horrifying death rate. It kills more than 60 per cent of all infected people – the highest killing rate of any virus. In contrast regular seasonal flu has less than a point five per cent death rate. This fact should concern governments in parts of South East Asia and countries in the Middle East,” said Dr Kim. Of swine flu he said, “The 2009 H1N1 strain is eerily similar to the 1918 reported virus - this was a major concern. Fortunately, the 2009 version was less deadly

These are backed by clinical trials Also will be looking into training my brain ,as some research says may be able to use other parts of the brain to make up for the blind spots due to the damage cells. Retirement Visa from USA.... need input from those who have them.
Dr Mick replied to frostfire's topic in Expat Issues
I do have non imm o visa retirement extension ,I did not have any money in a Thai bank but just got a letter from bbk uk embassy saying I have at least 65000 bhts month income ,gave evidence to my embassy about my money in the UK bank ,think letter cost me about 2200 bhts ,can you not get same from your embassy ? Also I have to give copy of my rented contract, contract must be in my name not my ladies name, copy of some deeds who owns the house ,copy of owners house ID card. Passport and 1 photo ,copy of your passport pages showing your non imm visa and your arrival card to Thailand. I think for marriage extension you need all this as well as prove of marriage ,papers and pictures. Also please not if you leave Thailand you must get some type of visa from thai imm , If you do not get this your extension visa is cancelled out. Also do not forget you have to report to Thai imm every 90 days ,I do this in Khon Kaen -
