baboona beach hotel or citin loft
laffnliv replied to londoner's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I haven't stayed there, but I and my lady eat at restaurant at the front. Decent value for money and a short walk from the condo. If the appearance of the lobby is an indication, it seems to be very nice. Great location on Beach Rd. just north of Soi 4. It obviously is popular as we see tourists entering as we eat. Don't know the cost. Little Roy -

TQ2 Alf's Bon Voyage, come back soon...... drinks.

Glad to hear you are going to get it fixed. Sometimes they replace your heart valve with one from a pig. A friend of mine had it done. Works perfectly. He's still playing the trumpet at 85 years. Good thing you ain't a Muslim........ Little Roy -
I certainly don't have any experience in the hotel business. And I will now prove it. If the OP is experienced in the business why is he asking on a monger's board how he should organize the business? If the OP is not experienced he shouldn't even try such a business in Thailand. Just my own take on this whole thread. Little Roy

Are you asking if there are any massage places in Pattaya? (You must be kidding!) Or is this Nuru massage a different kind of massage? If so, please explain. Little Roy

On my first trip to Pattaya which was in '93 I saw a full on sex show called the "Coconut Show". It was in an old building with a real stage, somewhere just off of Second Rd. It looked like it had been a movie theater at one time. Full of mossies I remember. Was asked by a gal on stage who was about to open a bottle of bubbly with her pussy, to moved as she thought the bubbly spurting from the bottle might hit me. Talked to the Thai stud in the parking lot after the show. He said he did three shows every day (he did look a bit tired). Used to boink his girl friend on stage, but for some reason she left, so he now boinks a gal that's not a gal friend. Show biz...... Little Roy

If I had a neighbor like that we would have a "friendly" discussion. Problem would be solved. Little Roy

"Breaking even" is not a consideration for me. I bought mine to live in. Should I live long enough to sell it I will make a profit even with the current downturn in value. The net result is that I will have lived in Pattaya for free. I have had my condo for 8 years now. Little Roy

A lot of places mentioned here that I will have to try. The best I have had so far was at the Globetrotter. But they don't offer pepperoni, and I LOVE pepperoni! Also at the Globetrotter they have Beer Lao Dark. The only place I have seen the Dark so far. Expensive, but gooood! And if I remember correctly, 8 per cent alcohol. Be careful! Little Roy

You need to get over here and look around. Don't just research over the internet. Also, don't rule out re-sale units. Due to economic reasons some are for sale as the owner needs to go back home and go back to work. Some good buys if you look around. Be VERY wary of pre-construction sales of new condos. Some have gone bust already. If you can't see it and walk around in it, don't buy. Pay cash so you get a title. Don't get a Thai mortgage. You want to have the title in your hand. If you have to borrow money, try to get it in your home country. And...don't pay/invest more than you can afford to lose. I realize that some can afford to lose more than others. Keep your assets otherwise in your home country. In Thailand you never know what may happen. Little Roy

Did the new security check procedure last Wednesday, Sept. 16. No trouble at all, but...it was about 3 AM. Not many flights going out at the time. Had no one in front of me at the immigration station. The security check was quite thorough. How thorough it might be during a busy time is another question. The security check area will definitely have to be enlarged significantly if a thorough job is to be done when there are crowds. Little Roy

Club Mirage, the old Lennies/ Shooters
laffnliv replied to Obsession's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Yep, enjoyed the place when it was Lennies. So much so that I bought the T-shirt. Enjoyed it also when it was Shooters, but no T-shirt. Mirage? I hope it will be re-born as a friendly place......as it was once. Little Roy -
Easy walking distance. Just walk up to Sukhumvit, cross to the other side, turn right to Soi 7. Little Roy

Pattaya Beer Garden Freelancer Promotion
laffnliv replied to PattayaPete's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I and my lady came to PBG about 7:30 PM for dinner. I didn't know about the "promotion" but certainly noted the large group of attractive ladies present. Another great idea by the big Peter. Uh...I guess that sounded kind of weird. Pier-side Peter...? Professional Promoter of Pier-side Productions...? OK, OK, I'll stop now. Little Roy -
USA to Bangkok, May purchase, Fall Travel Cathay Pacific
laffnliv replied to NokTang's topic in Airline Discussion
Nok, if I have read that right, the trip can be for no more than thirty days. And departure is from the west coast. For some that works out just fine. But I return to LOS on May 19 from the east coast. And will stay in Pattaya for 7 months. Unfortunately the length of the trip cuts people like me out from those really good deals. But I can't complain. I fly round-trip from BWI for $1,400. About $50 cheaper than last year. Little Roy -
100,000 baht beer giveaway
laffnliv replied to PattayaPete's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Damn! I won't get back until two weeks after. Oh well, will enjoy the place again when I do get back. Don't let any of the guys swilling the free beer decide to go for a swim. Although it won't be the first time it has happened. Little Roy -
Forgot to mention that after doing my Christmas...uh...duty, I return to Pattaya until April. So 10 months here ain't bad. Little Roy

I make two trips to the States each year. The other one is in December to keep the famly happy. I guess it's a good thing to do, but it's COLD! And damp. And cloudy. I seem to invent new curse words each year. So much for the Christmas spirit. But....I do love my family, so...... Little Roy

Finished and mailed on the 11th. For some unexplained reason I was efficient this year. Gonna get sizeable refunds from federal and state this year. That's a change! And will return to Pattaya in about 3 weeks and stay until December. A 7 months stay ain't bad. Actually it's what I do every year. Little Roy

MANY good seafood places in Pats. My lady and I have become fond of the Sea Zone on Walking St., near the entrance. It's the middle of two restaurants on the right side. The third one is King Lobster. I forget the first one. Mental block, I guess. Tried it once and the service was bad. I am sure there are others. What was Nang Nual Rest. which is past the FLB has, in my opinion, gone down hill. I don't remember the current name. Name change probably due to change in ownership, but not sure. Not impressive. All this is why we gravitate to Sea Zone. Little Roy

Christmas at the Pattaya Beer Garden
laffnliv replied to PattayaPete's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Pete, your openness is refreshing and should be seen as an example for those who only deal in excuses. I wasn't there for Christmas or New Years as I had to do the required Christmas bull-shit with family in the States. Will return next week to enjoy the PBG again. Little Roy -

Rent. This is not a good time to "invest" in Thailand. Having said that,...I did buy a condo in Pattaya, but that was over 6 years ago and before the Russians and others started throwing their money around. And before so called 5 star condos were proliferating. Yes, there will be some good buys this coming year due to the market declining. BUT....the political situation in Thailand would have to settle a bit before I would contemplate buying if I were you. Yes, rent for a year as has been suggested. Things are a-changing and who knows in what directions the changes will take. Little Roy
