  1. There is another option. You can get an extension for 1900 baht at immigration office in Jomtien. They give you an extra 15 days even if you only want 3.
  2. If your plan is to catch the sky train after you get to Ekamai, and the traffic is crawling along on Sukhumvit, then jump off at the first sky train station. Its called something like Oh Nut, once you see a Lotus Tesco on the left hand side of the bus get off and take the sky train. I did it last time along with about 8 others.
  3. Who is the owner and his staff of the restaurant. Where is opposite X-Cyte disco, which is located on 3rd Rd midway between South Pattaya Rd and Centeral Pattaya Rd.
  4. My room has both, plus we have windows with both a western and southern exposure to take advantage of the breezes. Use the A/C when we return for a few minutes to bring the temperature of the room down. It helps if you come from a hot climate, the last 5 days its been between 100 and 107 degrees. Can't wait to get back to LOS and cool off.
  5. Currently those beautiful grounds near Beach Rd are all torn up. On the southern side there is construction going on for either a new high rise addition to the Amari or another hotel.
  6. Those rates are for a different LK property. LK has for different hotels that I'm aware. The Mansion is the oldest, followed by the Pavilion, Metropole and the recently opened Royal Suite which was the topic of this thread.
  7. Alan it will cost you 150 if you take a cab that is based out of the airport because they add an extra 50 baht to cover what they are charged by the airport. If you catch one dropping off someone at the departure level then its about 100. When you get to Mo Chit and locate the Pattaya window see if they are still offering the bus to Pattaya that takes the toll road. Its 121 as opposed to 117. I took it last month and it took me an hour and 50 minutes.
  8. Are you taking a helicopter?
  9. Tom, Unfortunately not, but soon for 41 days in paradise. Departing on the 26th using UA miles for a freebie. SFO-Inchon on Singapore and Inchon-BKK on Thai.
  10. I've never heard of that hotel but they should charge you no more than 80 baht to get you to the Soi Honey area. If you weren't packing bags, then I would tell you once you got off the bus to walk across the street (North Pattaya Rd) and flag down a moving baht bus. It would continue on towards the beach then head down Beach Rd till it reached south Pattaya Rd and then towards Sukhumvit Rd. Get off at the 2nd Rd intersection and pay 10 baht, then flag down another one and get off at Soi Honey for another 10 baht.
  11. How far is the Mo Chit bus terminal from the Mo Chit skytrain station? If your not aware when getting the bus to Pattaya at Mo Chit they offer a bus for an extra 4 baht that will take the toll road. I did it last month, left Mo Chit a little before 7 PM and arrived in Pattaya about an hour and fifty minutes later. Part of the slowness now is that they are doing some roadwork on a stretch between Pattaya and the beginning of the toll road. It's slow during this stretch whether your in a bus or taxi.
  12. The bus is easy and should take you a little over 2 hours if you leave around noon and not wait for rush hour to get out of Bangkok. Once you arrive at the Pattaya bus terminal there will be baht bus drivers waiting at the terminal. Should cost you around another 60 baht to get to your hotel. Where are you staying.
  13. It opened about a month ago. Its another LK property called The Royal Suites I think. Checked on the prices and they were not cheap, more than their sister hotel Metropole. I don't have an email address but you should be able to get ahold of them by asking one of the other LK properties.
  14. Hi Tom, Things must be different for us on this side of the Atlantic. When I have a direct flight the plane will make a stop to off load some paxs and take on new paxs. Usually about 1 to 1 1/2 hours stop. The flight number remains the same. What I'm hopping for in the near future is direct non stop out of SFO to BKK. Don't think that will happen until the airlines begin to fly the smaller 787.
  15. If your staying near Sukhumvit you can take the skytrain to the Ekamai station and then take the Bangkok-Pattaya bus. They leave every 1/2 hour and cost around 110 baht. You just might meet your future wife on the ride.
  16. Arriving on Thai Air at 0035 (12:35 AM). Should be finished with immigration and customs are 1 AM. Anyone want to share a ride to Pattaya.
  17. Denny, You should have booked that trip on UA before the 31st of May. They were giving double miles to everyone so you would have gotten triple.
  18. First you could ask the hotel manager if they could install it for you. Tell them your buying and if they install it they can keep it after you leave. It would be a selling point for future guests. But really even if the safe wasn't bolted down or only secured with a cable it would do the job as you wouldn't have any TG putting it in their bag and walking out. Most would even assume that it was bolted down. Another cheap item to secure your room is one of those doorknob covers and a padlock. Someone that's looking to break in will pick a room that appears easy to get into than one with obstacles, unless they know your keeping something of extreme value to make them take the extra risk.
  19. Good meeting you while I was walking with Soi 7 and a couple other guys and I can 2nd your recommendation on one of the friendly staff at the other end of the soi.
  20. Sunshine Vista on Soi 3 or Bella Villa Prima on Soi 4.
  21. Summer months are the busiest for the airlines as its summer vacation for school, families are flying along with your college students. 2005 was the busiest year on record for the airlines and this years numbers are better than last even with the higher oil prices. In the past prices do go down after school resumes just don't expect to see prices like we've seen since in the last 4 years. The fear of 9-11 has passed along with SARS, Iraq War, and bird flu.
  22. If you find a place that you really like and the only drawback is no in room safe, you can buy one for around 2000baht.
  23. When I used to want to stay near Walking St I would stay at the Marine Yensabai Mansion on Soi Yensabai and only about a 5 minute walk to the Peppermint and Dollhouse go-gos. The place was new as it opened in 2003 with very large rooms and only cost 700 baht.
