  1. She has learnt that the key to effective and efficient service is to get al the information needed, and use it well, store it and act on it . Basically, wrong or incomplete info can lead to missed engagements, a nuisance to the customer, and cost to the provider. So, she will aSk you when you enquire, or order a cab, for info on What day What time, arrival,of plane, or pick up from hotel What place How many passengers, mobile phine ir Line ID, Flight number What destination, e.g. What hitel where... If you give all thst in your first email, you get procesed faster...
  2. I'm sorry mate, I may have suggested flirting might nit be appreciated, but, when the time comes to take leave, SHE will decide if you're worthy of a hug, and if you are, it is intended for mutual benefit. She contends if a person is someone she feels good about, she gets as much be efit from a hug as she gives. I supose you'll just have to try again next time...
  3. Thank you for that lovely detailed account. Re the Vodka. Just as well you didn't, she's a teetotaller, wouldn't have touched it. No booze, no smoke, no coffee. About the music, you did the right thing, she is totally open to adjust the music to your taste, her mission is to make the customers journey as pleasant for him as she can, within the limits of the restricted services she offers :-) Well, the right thing, not sure, I love Led Zeppelin, not sure if she does, Abba would make me chunder, but she probably loved it and maybe sang along with it. The hug at the end means you passed the test, she only hugs customers thst give her a good vibe!
  4. If and when you set up a donation fund, I pledge 1000 bt per year, in recognisance to the opportunities for publicity rendered to my friend http://namstaxipattaya.com Least we can do. It wouldn't really get anywhere near to sponsorship, but I suppose all small things can add up....
  5. I think positive attitude is a two way street, a process that can reinforce itself. Much of the feedback I get here and more so on other boards as well as direct email to her, says her customers love her, for her attitude, her sense of fun, and her genuineness. She feels she doesn't have to hustle, so she can simply be herself. By two way street , I mean, she enjoys meeting people who are simply nice to her, not to try to seduce her, but just nice to another person. Last night, a message to me ""I love my customers, almost every single one. Most of them are such lovely people" Now that, coming from someone who was heard saying over a year ago "I hate all men, I don't care if I ever see any man again in my life" , to me, sounds like a succesfull happy woman on a roll... Keep it up, guys, we're moving in the right direction.
  6. She does about 90% of all trips, she has since about three months ago a back up driver she uses when she is booked already. Her name is Ann, driving a Toyota Camry, and, although I haven't been driven by her, I met her and she seems to be quiet a pleasant woman. Nam has driven with her and says she is a careful driver. So far, all customer feedback has been positive, most customers who have been driven by her so far happy to use Ann again. But Nam will usually check with customers if they are happy with another driver, except in case of emergency, when she herself is running overtime, and has no other option but to use another driver. Nam's in charge of the operation, and any further bookings after having been picked up by Ann, still go through Nam via her website. The way things have been growing, she may need more assistance at some stage, at there is a possibility that she may get assistance from her older sister in the near future. Her I know well, almost as cute as Nam ( Some may argue and say she is actually cuter then Nam, but I don't want to get into that debate, I value my health and safety) and speaks good English, having resided in Europe for a couple of years. But that's still in the pipeline at present. "Older" is of course relative, two years older, just turned 30.... There is no doubt that for her business there are efficiencies to be made by using more then one driver, but the problem is maintaining quality. Nam is adamant that her bottom line is safety and reliability, and when she starts employing other drivers, monitoring quality will be a challenge. For us the icing on the cake is of course also charm, it is more fun to be driven by an entertaining pleasant young woman then by a morose or grumpy bloke on speed. Time will tell, this is still a young business, and feedback is always welcome.
  7. Thank you. She is starting to get quite busy now, and customers are booking sometimes 2 or three months ahead. The website is indeed the best way to book, it feeds directly into her email, but also spells out exactly all the information she needs for an airport pick up. We spent some time last week shooting some new pictures for he website, which hopefully will go up soon. She chose the location, and had most shots she wanted clearly prepared in her head. She spent quite some time these past few months refining her booking system, learning from previous experiences to try and get it as efficient as possible. Her airport trips all are asked for a flight number, so she can check on early or late arrival of flights, and see if the arrival time the customer gives is in line with what the airline says. The request email with the data gets transferred to her Google calendar, so all the info is in one place, including phone numbers and Line IDs, to allow her to contact a customer when he's still in Customs. verify he's on the way in case of delays. All far bookings ahead are asked to confirm a few days before the flight, to make sure it is going ahead. Sometimes customers supply incorrect information, but she checks the lot at time of booking. If you say you arrive on Tuesday October 7, she'll tell you that day is a Wednesday, please give me the right info. If you give a Flight number that relates to the first leg of your flight, but not to the one you transfer to in Dubai, she'll query you. Etc. No shows are bad for customer relations, a customer whose taxi doesn't turn up won't be a repeat customer. Same way, A cabby who turns up to find no customer, is 800 baht or more out of pocket, a big sum for her. OK, give her a go, and let us know here what you think of her service. No, she is not as cheap as MrT, but most users will find the extra is worth it.
  8. 555555 That of course was obvious, but the search engines pick her up faster this way. Basically, she needs to widen her customer net, and not remain almost exclusively on referrals from P4p boards. This link hopefully will up on the likes of Trip Advisor, Lonely Planet, etc. BTW, if any of her taxi customers want to put this link on those boards, she would be most gratteful.. Of course, initially bookings via her website will be the same people who read about her here oron the other boards, but eventually, there will be more referrals from that website that are not exclusively coming from a mongerers board. I sometimes have to pass on information gathere from this or another board to my S.O. Without it being obvious that it came from here. I usually blame it on having found that info via Google, or ThaiVisa. I think her website maybe useful to those others who are also walking that fine line .......
  9. A fellow BM has assisted her by setting up a Website for her. It gives all the info you may need, and is neutral, in giving no indication that she is operating from the world epicenter for P4P, so you can even give it to your old aunt and uncle who only come here to play golf, eat and visit temples... http://www.namstaxipattaya.com Mods, I hope this is not breaking any rules to publish a weblink, if so, aoplogies, and feel free to remove the link
  10. Thank you fir your endorsement Sir, and it was a pleasure meeting you last week.
  11. A friend of mine who was renting a house on the Darkside, has just been told that her house will be repossessed by the bank tomorrow, and needs to urgently relocate. Ideally, she is looking for another cheap rental, about 6k-8k, can be on the darkside, preferable a house. The pace she rented before had no hot water or aircon, so she can rough if need be. Preferably off street parking. URgent!!!
  12. Thank you guys, much appreciated. Initially slow season was a bit too slow for her, but over the past few months, the number of repeat customers is steadily rising, which means people like her service and come back. In July she had the same number of bookings as in January, so it looks like she has gotten over the rough patch of a start up business in the low season, and will continue to thrive. She had quite a few in the past couple of months that she had to turn down due to already being booked. She has now found a back up driver, a lady called Ann, with a nice Toyota Camry, who she can offer to pick you up if she is already booked when you need her. I met Ann, she is a nice woman, and according to Nam who took her on a trial run to the airport to pick up a customer, she is a competent and safe driver. A slight drawback, her english is not as good as Nam's, but she has been driving a taxi for quit a while, and all booking arrangements are done online by Nam. Nam will check with you if you are OK being picked up by Ann if she is busy herself. Any repeat bookings with Ann, please contact Nam by email. And of course, Nam is way cuter..... But maybe, I am biased. Namnamthailand@gmail.com
  13. Bloody vandals! Jomtien was my favourite early morning walk, they had a lovely concrete path on the beach, in the shade of nice old trees. By the time these morons have finished, there will hardly be a tree left, and no shade. Tree are capital assets in the tourism business, destroying them is stupid.
  14. That sign was also at P Tai soi 4, but no service there, not sure what happened.
  15. Well, I git there Saturday at 9.30, no one waiting, took 15 minutes. i had done nothing to prepare, they looked under the mats and in the boot, tested the brakes etc, then i was free to go. Went back to AA insurance, who said they'd do my rego for me at Big C. But when I got there, the boss said "save yourself the time and our fee, you can do it by youself easily, first floo Big C, you'll find it. Near the True Move stand, I found a table with two people doing the rego, took all if two minutes... I had expected at least half a day at the big centre near Regents school, waiting in line for inspection, waiting in line for the counter to pay the annual fee... Last year rego alone cost me about two and a half hours... This is way better!
  16. Thanks Guys. I went back to my insurance, they pointed me at the other one, probably the one Idefix mentioned, SukH Soi 44, will go tomorrow morning. i hope the queue is shorter then at DLT...
  17. I just paid my car insurance, now, before re-registering, my car needs an inspection, or as we say in NZ, a "Warrant of Fitness" Usually this is done at the same office where you get your driving licence. My insurance lady AA insurance, next to Big C Pattaya Tai, tells me there are a couple of other places that do the inspection, maybe not as madly busy as the BoKoSo, and nearer by. She said I can get the car inspected on Soi 4 in Pattaya Tai Rd, then bring the document back, and she can arrange for the registration on Saturday in Big C nextdoors to her office. Sounds nice, but when I went to look at the inspection workshop she mentioned, I could not find it. Does anyone else know of a official car inspection place, recognised to be used for re-registring a seven year old car?
  18. She does like to get her details straight, so if on sending a request for booking, you give these upfront, she can let you know if she is available. Name, pick up location, destination, date, time, number of passengers, and if possible, Thai mobile number. When it concerns an airport run, flight number and arrival or departure time are needed. She keeps all this info on Google calendar on both her phone and her iPad, so she can both check and answer if needed while waiting for her customer to arrive. She's getting quite efficient at this now, and takes great pride in delivering good service. If you are happy with her service, please tell us here on this thread.
  19. Post deleted, not relevant to this thread
  20. Teelack, I would report uf there was anything new to report. All I can say is life us good, nothing I haven't written about before, and some things that are good but better not written about...
  21. About eight weeks later, and she's still doing OK, although not as busy as in January and february, the low season is biting. She had a minor mishap a couple of weeks ago, injured her back, maybe lifting big suitcase, not sure. She had to take a few days off to recover, went home to be treated by a blind massage woman in her village she swears by. Now since last Friday back on deck. When she has a day off and doesn't go home to her family, she gets back to her favourite hobby, art. She draws and paints watercolours, experimenting a bit with acrylics now, too. If you had a ride with her and enjoyed it, please give her an endorsement on this thread, she really appreciates feedback. and if you think of anything she can do to improve her service, feel free to say so, too.....
  22. Sitting in the early morning sun on my balcony overlooking the sea about 20 K south of Pattaya, musing life's pretty good. I do make a few trips into Pattaya or Jomtien each week, usually rather short, but enough to relief any built up stress and buy fresh coffe beans for my old Saeco. Wonderful machines, I agree with MM. In fact, I got 2, one from 2000, bought in Switzerland, only used for personal use except a six month stint in a friends pizza shop, and a 2002 model I inherited from an okd mate who used to have a bar and BG accomodation on Buakhao market. He left it to me, after unfortunaly expiring from cancer of the aesophagus a few years ago, a result he claimed of too many visits to establisments like Windmill giving him HPV. The second machine looks worse for wear, but is handy as a temporary back up when my first one goes for service in the same establishment MM uses, once a year for service. Thus allowing me to avoid that dreadful fate of having to drink crappy instant coffee..... As for Nespresso machines, don't mention that abomination and the word coffee in the same sentence....
  23. And you would have deserved it!
  24. Well, since she started about three months ago, she has been pretty busy almost every day. But it looks now that high season has finally finished, this is the first time she has a couple of days without any bookings. She ironed out most of the initial start up problems, e.g. Now she tries to keep enough if a gap between bookings to handle late arrivals that may delay her next pick up. Not 100% foolproof, but the very rare occasions when it goes wrong, like last week, a very delayed arrival, delayed coming out if customs, and terrible rain on the way back, she knew she was going to be late, and called someone to pick up her next customers for their airport run. She is going home iver Songkran, first to spend ut with her famiky, then staying out if Pattaya until it is all over. Traffic congestion in Pattaya is so bad over Songkran, and probably thus year worse then ever, due to the tunnel being built at Klang. But until April 11, and from April 20 onwards, she is available to drive you, now in a new car, again a Ford Focus. Namnamthailand@gmail.com for your bookings
  25. I went to the Pattaya office yesterday, with house documents, passport and relevant copies. They said "need residence certificate, go to Soi 5 Jomtien. So I did. Now going back for my DL on Monday morning....
