  1. Over the past 8 years or so I ahve always stayed at the Sunshine, except for my last trip - decided to try a "cheap" place (Fawlty Towers - it was "ok" for the price - I wonder if it is still open - I am just getting back on this Board again). Anyway, I was always satisfied with the Sunshine.... I liked that location a lot.
  2. Nice pics thanks. I've been absent from this Board for a while.... just been super busy (and spending a lot of time in the PI - which is not a bad thing! ). It's good to sign on again and see these pics.... I sure miss the place !! Probably be back in June.
  3. " . . . control of this board . . . " ??? Since when? There's a simple solution for those who don't like the Glitster's posts . . . ignore them. --- Farsider
  4. Not the funniest commercial in the world . . . but damn funny! (And apparently made in Thailand).... (My apologies if this has already been posted - I checked first and couldn't find it on the site)
  5. This is an fairly unimportant disappointment . . . but a disappointment all the same. Not that this guy is able to post again - the posts are easy to ignore. The disappointment is that I thought the guy riding around like a clown was actually a bit entertaining... creative.... and brings a smile to the faces of most people who see him riding around. But then we receive fairly reliable confirmation that the guy riding around in the costume is, in fact, the same guy posting idiotic worthless crap? Too bad. Well, hey.... if nobody bothers to click on his posts, he eventually will just
  6. This is all silly and a waste of time. My suggestion, (if it is possible from a programming standpoint), is to just install a program to automatically delete all posts that contain the word "Glitterman" - past & future posts. Although the actual dude who rides around Pattaya in his glittering outfit might be a curiosity for some... this is actually not very important to the overall purpose of this Board. Just delete it all.
  7. (Yawn).................... I just wasted 35 seconds of my life on this? Fuck.
  8. I agree - my sentiments exactly. I will be retiring soon and plan to visit Thailand (particularly Pattaya!), the Philippines, and other Asian destinations for several months at a time. But it's always nice to get back to southern California. I'd miss my good friends (and some relatives too) if I permanently moved overseas. Plus . . . there are some great mongering destinations in Central & South America, so it's a nice change-up to go down there once in a while. And besides.... my Spanish is way better than my Thai --- Farsider
  9. For the past 6 years I have been fortunate to be able to travel to the Philippines (and Thailand) at least twice a year. Beginning next year I will finally be able to travel more and stay longer . . . . meaning 4 to 6 weeks per trip. Besides the obvious mongering reasons for going to Manila, AC, Bangkok, Pattaya, etc.... I enjoy doing other stuff such as scuba diving. (Both countries offer almost inexhaustible diving destinations - I love it!). But does anyone know if there are squash & racquetball courts in Bangkok and/or Pattaya? (My past trips have been so short I've
  10. I am wondering if some guys could comment on the general location of this Nova Platinum - (and it appears to be near the Residence Garden). My main concern is how "convenient" and also safe is this location to walk to & from Walking Street at night? I have always stayed at the Sunshine Hotel (Soi 8)... pretty good hotel, but a bit dated. I like the Soi 8 & Soi 7 area (with Soi 6 not too far off!). And it is pretty convenient to jump on a taxi truck if I want to go to Walking Street. Just about anytime day or night I find the general area around the Sunshine to be safe. Of c
  11. This Nova Platinum Hotel looks fantastic. I've always stayed at the Sunshine Hotel (Soi 8).... but the place (including the "new wing") is dated and their room prices are just a bit higher than what this new Nova Platinum Hotel is listing. I've always like the Sunshine's location... but I think I will give this new hotel a try - their location looks good as well. Thanks for the link. ---- Farsider
  12. I am about to take the plunge . . . Yup, scuba diving. I will get my open water certification in a couple of weeks. I just happen to have a trip to Pattaya planned for September, so.... maybe I can do a dive trip while I'm there. I've been to Pattaya many times, but never to dive.... uh, I mean, you know.... never to do scuba diving! So if there are some guys on this site who know scuba in Pattaya, could you give me your recommendation for good dive shops? From my internet searches it looks like "Aquanauts" . . . "Mermaids" . . . "Pattaya Scuba Dive" . . . and "Sea Ducti
  13. Her legs are not far enough apart.
  14. I appreciate the replies. Just a few more quick questions.... Big D, is Lostinspace's wife hot? (lol) GRT, I've only found 3 members so far I'd be willing to share a taxi with, so that option is no good . Since I run marathons the walking idea is tempting, but I'd need to see BigD's list of fuglies, along with photos and bio's before I take the walk. Actually, price is not a major factor . . . I just want reliable service BKK - Pattaya - BKK, clean comfortable car, large backseat & two TG's to massage my flight-weary back, legs, arms, feet, hands, di....
  15. I am returning to Thailand in September . . . . and interested in knowing what the best options are for ground transport to Pattaya (from BKK). Is Mr. Tooms still in business and reliable? (I've never used him but I have read mixed reviews on his service). The following site comes recommended by a board member - anyone else have experience with this company?.... http://www.bangkok-airport-transfer.com/ Any other recommendations? Thanks.
  16. This is good advice to start. Your friend will need Thai representation for sure. I do property development and management (but have never attempted anything outside the U.S.), so I have some background in this area, generally. Obviously location is key..... and the time-worn phrase "timing is everything" applies. I my view - and what little I know & understand about buying & selling businesses in Thailand I can't imagine a worse time to try and sell a business and/or property. Having said that, if your friend is not in a desperate situation and can pretty much wait things out, t
  17. In my dozen or so visits to Pattaya I always stay at the Sunshine Hotel (Soi 8). Decent hotel (imho) - I always get a Deluxe Seaview room in the new wing (... lol, you can hardly call that buildlng "new" anymore - but that's how they refer to it). Anyway . . . I always liked the fact that we could walk straight through the courtyard and to the elevator - by-passing the lobby - so my girl did not have to turn in an I.D. I never take freelancers .... only bargirls and GoGo girls. I really do a pretty thorough interview at the bar before selecting my evening companion, so I don't see th
  18. Several trips ago to Pattaya (this was probably back in 2007) I was sitting in a beer bar on Soi 8 when a black guy walked by . . . he was with two white guys . . . suddenly a few of the bar girls next to me yelled out "Chocolate man!" (trying to get his attention to come into the bar). He just waved, smiled and walked on with his buddies. At first I was shocked . . . but then realized this is not un usual and the girls are not being rude. So be prepared to hear that . . . and enjoy the ladies! --- FarSider
  19. Sounds great Pete . . . I'll make a point to stop in and check out the place. (I'm in Pattaya Feb. 10-15) Good luck with the promo. --- FarSider
  20. Some of the best food I've had in Pattaya is off of the street carts -- no more risky than the street taco carts in la zona roja - Tijuana, Mexico . . . never gotten sick yet. As for Pattaya's street carts, I'm usually with a BG. One time my girl had the street cart lady make up some soup . . . it was looking like it would be really delicious, so I ordered the same but told her "not spicy". We got to the room and my soup was perfect (although still spicy for my taste). Just out of curiosity I asked my BG if I could taste the soup she ordered . . . . . . how can anyo
