The Pattaya City Hospital on Soi Buakao is great. Almost brought tears to my eyes when they presented me the 100 baht bill for my visit and when I asked why its so cheap the answer was " government take care". The first time that Thailand was not discriminating against Mr. Farang.

I would try Ramathibodi... Its a university hospital so "interesting" cases are welcome there and they have a good neurosurgical unit. My girlfriend works there as a nurse and she also went there for treatment of a clot in her retinal artery and wouldnt go anywhere else. Very good imaging devices, cyberknive apparantly available and definatly cheaper then Bumrungrad. Many uninsured Cambodians and Burmese get treated there as well, you wont get a premium treatment for free but they are not assholes like in the private hospitals
