  1. OK, do you know who rigged it? Could have it been Gen Myers, former Chairman of the JCS? He's on the Northrop board BTW.
  2. Yeah the competition was rigged in 2003, not allowing EADS to compete. I wonder what GAO officer will be the next Boeing executive?
  3. It's only a free market as long as Boeing lines the pockets of corrupt politicians. Anyhow I think Boeing will lose again on the tanker contract. They protested when Lockheed won the Deepwater contract, and lost. Now I read there was a whistleblower because Lockheed was overlooking security issues on that program. The contract is in the process of being canceled, with no hope of having Boeing or SAIC taking it over.
  4. He said "members section." I was able to post here (in the open to everyone forum) just by signing up with a Yahoo addy. The members section requires a VALID NON HOTMAIL, YAHOO, GMAIL addy. ex.... joe@joekicker.net would be a valid email address.
  5. Scally, you need to stop hitting the sauce on Sunday. It looks like to me they (ANA) are certain to buy those planes. Probably more certain than when Boeing will make it 1st delivery of the hanger queen.
  6. Looks like Airbus thinking of hub to hub will beat out Boeings point to point philosiphy, as long as fuel prices remain high.
  7. STALWORTH BOEING CUSTOMER TO BUY AIRBUS A380S From Reuters
  8. Your wrong... But let the investigation proceed to uncover any wrongdoing. BTW do you think buying birthday cakes for staff members is a prerequiste for securing a job? And if it's ethical? $3 million is such a piss poor fine. Boeing earns over $60 billion in revenues every year. Mostly goes to exec comps, not in the pocket of the little guy. Tom, I still like this story below better. That writer had some real flair..
  9. Never was an avaition mechanic, and have never been to South Carolina Scally. So it wasn't me. BTW you still hunting razorbacks with that assault rifle? No, but I can tell you stories of some of the shit I used to find on the users computers and file servers at work. Or the time someone moved a file off the server onto their desktop, and deleted it, which ol eltib had to do an emergency salvage command. BTW, have you purchased any Boeing stock lately? I'm sure it will go back up, but when? 10. Tanker Saga Becoming Real Star Wars Trilogy By Jane WellsCorrespondent cnbc.com | 01 Jul 2008 | 09:07 AM ET http://www.cnbc.com/id/25411606/site/14081...C&par=yahoo Check out the new ads Northrop Grumman is running in some newspapers, once again promoting its tanker, this time portraying the Boeing KC-767 tanker as a “paper airplane.” It’s going to be a long, hot summer until the Air Force decides whether to reopen bidding, and, if so, whether to start over completely with a new set of rules. I’m beginning to think the entire tanker saga is like the original “Star War” trilogy. First there was Episode I (ok, it’s Episode IV to George Lucas, but not me), “A New (Tanker) Hope.” That ends with Darth Druyun and Darth Sears going to jail for turning the tanker into the Death Star of all ethics breaches. The contract finally goes to newcomers, Northrop Grumman and EADS, which leads to the next installment, “Boeing Strikes Back,” where Boeing…strikes back. Big time. Now, buy your popcorn for “The Return of the Euros.” After a couple of weeks of not talking, Northrop Grumman has reemerged to tout its Airbus-based tanker entry with the new, edgy ads, and with a new press release. The release announces that the KC-45's refueling boom has completed its 100th flight. "Unlike our competitor's offering that has yet to leave the drawing board,” says Northrop’s tanker chief Paul Meyer, “we have a mature, state-of-the-art boom…” But he’s not done. "The Air Force needs tankers now and had a choice between a yet to be built tanker concept and boom system against a flight-proven KC-45 to meet the critical, time-urgent refueling needs of the warfighter. The Air Force selected the KC-45, the only system that can fully meet these requirements today." Sigh. Whoever ends up winning will certainly be a master of The (air) Force. Questions? Comments? 11. AP State Department fines Boeing $3 million Monday June 30, 1:25 pm ET Boeing to pay $3 million fine for exceeding limits on purchases from foreign suppliers http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080630/boeing_fine.html?.v=1 CHICAGO (AP) -- Boeing has agreed to pay a $3 million fine for exceeding value limits on the purchases of parts from foreign suppliers for its military products. Boeing spokesman Tim Neale says the Chicago-based company discovered the violations and reported them to the State Department. The airplane manufacturer violated manufacturing license agreements required under federal regulations governing international arms sales. The suppliers were in Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria. Neale says Boeing has been working closely with the State Department to tighten its procedures. Boeing also agreed to report its progress to the State Department over the next three years. SO MUCH FOR KEEPING THEM JOBS IN AMERICA. ONE WONDERS HOW MANY OF THOSE COUNTRIES WOULD BE ON THE 767 CONTRACT HAD BOEING WON IT.
  12. Well I'm glad to see Mc Cain hasn't flip-flopped. I think he doesn't like Boeing because it's really not Boeing anymore. Just McDonnell Douglas flying the Boeing flag, with its flawed procedures.

  15. Lets get back on track here. I thought this was a post of Boeing vs. Airbus? http://www.irconnect.com/noc/press/pages/n...s.html?d=145311 GAO Analysis Does Not Alter the Air Force Finding that the KC-45 is the Superior Tanker WASHINGTON -- June 25, 2008 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) said, today, that it continues to support the United States Air Force and looks forward to its next steps regarding the direction of the KC-45 tanker program. This follows today's public release of the full Government Accountability Office (GAO) analysis of the original tanker contract award to Northrop Grumman. "The document makes clear that the GAO's issues with the contract do not reflect on the tankers' capabilities. In fact, in several areas key to the selection decision the GAO found no basis to object to the Air Force evaluation," said Paul Meyer, Northrop Grumman vice president of Air Mobility Systems and KC-45 program manager. "We look forward to a prompt assessment from the Air Force concerning what happens next." On Feb. 29, the Air Force selected Northrop Grumman to provide the next generation of aerial refueling tanker, the KC-45. The Air Force has an urgent need to replace its aging tanker fleet. "The KC-45 is needed now, and Northrop Grumman is ready now to provide it," said Meyer. "Should the Air Force choose to proceed with our existing contract, we are ready to get to work. Northrop Grumman offered the superior tanker and nothing in the GAO analysis contradicts this essential truth. "Northrop Grumman remains the only company in this competition that has built, tested and flown its plane. In addition, our refueling boom has just completed its 100th flight test. At this point, our competitor has offered only a paper plane," Meyer said. "For our men and women in uniform, the most important thing is to field the new tanker as soon as possible. Only Northrop Grumman is ready to do that." About the KC-45 The KC-45 Tanker aircraft will be assembled in Mobile, Ala. - establishing Mobile as the new cornerstone of the Southern Aerospace Corridor. The program will employ 48,000 American workers at 230 U.S. companies in 49 states; and will be built by a world-class industrial team led by Northrop Grumman, and includes EADS North America, General Electric Aviation and Sargent Fletcher. Northrop Grumman Corporation is a global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.
  16. Who says car thieves are "self respecting?" Heck if they can get cheap parts from it to put on the market, (unlike the Hyundais, Kias, and Daowoos) they will steal it.
  17. I thought Big D's ride was more like this one....
  18. Hub, Don't you have fun finding quotes previously made?
  19. That means BigD would have to put pontoons on it.
  20. The operative sentence is the last one...I say it won't because of the fiasco from 2003.
  21. From what I'm reading, it looks like no change.... NG press release If your statement is true, hopefully that will be a temporary stop. I'm sure if there is a new bid process Team Airbus / Northrop will win again. I took a procurement class while at Boeing. Basically the government can make changes during the whole proposal process. This is just Boeing acting like a bunch of 2 year olds again trying to influence the government. One thing we know the 767 is good for, and that's inflicting maximum damage.
  22. Same thing was thought about the pentagon some 6 years ago too. Are you an expert that knows what goes on in the government, and the procurement process?
  23. With the way this administration has operated, I doubt it very much. I agree with the incompetence on sending Minuteman warhead components to Taiwan, labeled as helicopter parts. I disagree with the issue of B-52s carrying the nukes from Minot to Barksdale. The B-52s on airborne alert back in the 60s always were carrying them, and no nuke went off then. So why is it a big problem now? They can't go off unless they were fused and armed, and that also requires a Presidential EWO. This is basically the media trying to draw fear again out of the public.
